Over the years, the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur has hosted some feisty T20 internationals. The ICC T20 World Cup kicks off in Nagpur tomorrow, with hosts India taking on New Zealand in the first game of the Super 10.
India has played only one T20I at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium prior to tomorrow’s clash, their 29 run loss against Sri Lanka on 9 December 2009.
Sri Lanka racked up 215 in the first innings for the loss of five wickets – the highest total in a T20I at the ground, before India faltered in their run-chase and managed to score only 186 for the loss of nine wickets, losing the game by 29 runs.
Hong Kong have managed to post the lowest total at the VCA, when they managed to score 116/6 against Afghanistan in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers on 10 March 2016. However, the lowest total of a T20I at the stadium is the 78 recorded by Scotland in eight overs, en route to an eight-wicket win over Hong Kong in a rain-curtailed match on 12 March 2016 in the qualifiers.
