Ahead of the long and grueling home season for the Men in Blue, Test captain Virat Kohli is preparing himself in a special way by working out in the gym rather than being on the ground. It has been one of the main reasons why the young phenomenon has been one of the fittest members of the Indian squad.

Kohli gave a sneak peek into his morning cardio session with a video on his Instagram handle. The session included two different gym equipment with Kohli also revealing the details of the session.

He said that he starts off his training with a 15-minute session on his bike at level three maintaining an RPM of 120 throughout the quarter of an hour, and shifts to the treadmill without any break. He does 10 strides of 20 seconds and takes a 10 seconds break between each stride. The little break is just to gather his breath back. Kohli also said that the 10 strides on the treadmill is at a back to back speed of 19 km/hr and on a level 1 incline.

This might sound quite easy for a person working out in the gym regularly but what made the session very special according to Kohli was the high altitude mask. The mask makes it “twice as hard,” Kohli said.

The Test captain also wished everyone an active and a healthy day and suggested everyone to “train hard, train smart.”

“Sneak peek into my morning cardio session. 15 minutes on the bike at level 3 maintaining an rpm of 120 throughout then straight onto the treadmill for 10 strides of 20 seconds each and step on the sides for 10 seconds rest in between. 10 of these back to back at a speed of 19 km/hr and level 1 on an incline. All of this using the altitude training mask which makes it twice as hard. Train hard train smart. Wish everyone an active and healthy day.” Kohli wrote with the Instagram video.

The flamboyant Delhi lad has been in terrific form across all formats and it won’t be a surprise if he goes on to break many batting records before calling it a day. Kohli scored his maiden Test double century against West Indies in the recently concluded Test series and he would be hopeful of replicating his brilliant form in the Test series against New Zealand starting from 22nd September.
