AB de Villiers's swashbuckling 50-runs innings helped Titans open their account with an eight-wicket win over Lions in the RamSlam T20 challenge. The match was reduced to 15-overs per side due to a rainstorm before the match.

Lions' skipper Aaron Phangiso chose to bat first after winning the toss at SuperSport Park in Centurion but Albie Morkel's twin strike in the first over pegged them back. The former CSK all-rounder then bagged his third wicket in the third over, reducing Lions to 18 for the loss of three wickets.

Opener Reeza Hendricks and Dwaine Pretorius then added 64 runs for the fourth wicket before the latter's departure in the 10th over. Hendricks, though, didn't let the fall of wickets at the other end effect his flow and remained unbeaten by the end of innings, adding 67 runs in 42 deliveries at 159.52 as Lions set a target of 135(D/L).

Quinton de Kock then gave Titans a solid start with a quickfire 24-ball-39 before Lions came back with two wickets within 10 deliveries. Skipper Albie Morkel then joined hands with AB de Villiers to stitch an 85-runs partnership and see their side through with more than three overs to spare.

While Morkel slammed a 16-ball-41 courtesy a boundary and five maximums, De Villiers completed his half-century with two sixes off the last two deliveries, bowled by his South African teammate Kagiso Rabada. His 19-ball-50 saw him hit three fours and five sixes.

In other matches of the tournament, David Miller's 47-ball-62 helped his side Knights register an eight-wicket win while Hashim Amla's 27-ball-52 couldn't see Cape Cobras through against the Dolphins in another rain-affected match.

De Villiers will be in action again when Titans play their next match against the Knights on 15th November.
