The 2019-20 season of the Women's Big Bash League will take place from 18 October 2019 to 8 December 2019. All the eight participating teams will look to give their best this season to win the coveted title.

In the last season, Brisbane Heat defeated Sydney Sixers in the summit clash to lift their maiden WBBL trophy. The runners-up would be extra motivated this year to go one step further, while the defending champions would be equally motivated to retain their title.

There were two exciting signings ahead of this season that need deserve special mention. One was the signing of WBBL's first Pakistan player, Nida Dar; Sydney Thunder signed her to replace Stafanie Taylor, who has moved to Adelaide Strikers.

With 1086 runs and 88 wickets in 96 T20Is, Dar will be a crucial player for the Thunder this season.

Another exciting player who has come on-board this season is Brisbane's new signing Amelia Kerr. The New Zealander became the youngest player ever - male or female - to score an ODI double century when she reached the mark at the age of just 17. She is expected to come up with some exceptional knocks in this tournament.

In addition to the two exciting debutantes, here are the storied match-winners who could set the WBBL stage on fire.

#5 Heather Knight

The Hobart Hurricanes just won two matches in the previous season, and they found themselves at the bottom of the points table at the end of it. England captain Heather Knight would need to step up this season to ensure that the same fiasco is not repeated.

The right-hander was Hobart's leading run-scorer (374) and second-leading wicket-taker (14) in the previous season.

Knight also played a match-winning knock of 78 off 53 balls for Western Storm in the final of the 2019 Women's Cricket Super League. That effort earned her the Player of the Match award.

#4 Beth Mooney

With 486 runs from 16 matches, Beth Mooney finished the previous WBBL season as the third leading run-scorer and Brisbane's top run-getter. The opener's match-winning 46-ball 65 in the final helped Brisbane Heat capture their first trophy.

The wicket-keeper won the Player of the Match award in the summit clash for her efforts. This season all eyes will be on the charismatic batter, and opposition bowlers would have to work overtime to keep her contained.

#3 Delissa Kimmince

While Mooney was churning out loads of runs with her consistent batting last season, Delissa Kimmince was grabbing all the crucial dismissals with her spectacular bowling. These two players ensured that Brisbane always stayed ahead of their opponents.

Kimmince was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 22 dismissals in 16 matches. The Brisbane bowler's best performance was her four-wicket haul against Melbourne Stars in the 50th WBBL match last season.

More such performances from her are expected this season.

#2 Danielle Wyatt

Danielle Wyatt made the most runs for Melbourne Renegades in the 2018-19 WBBL season. After a sensational performance in the 2019 Women's Cricket Super League, the England all-rounder would be expected to cross her previous WBBL tally of 368 runs.

Wyatt scored 466 runs in 11 matches in WCSL 2019 for the Southern Vipers and won the Player of the Series award. It will take a lot of skill from the opponents to stop the brilliant Renegades opener this WBBL season.

#1 Ellyse Perry

Ellyse Perry was easily the best batter in the 2018-19 WBBL season. The Sixers captain racked up an outstanding tally of 777 runs from 16 games with an average of 86.33. It wasn't a surprise when she won the Player of the Series award.

The Sixers' chances of capturing the title depend largely on Perry's performance. The valiant batter scored the most runs in the 2019 Women's Ashes Test too, and would hope to continue in the same vein.
