The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 ended as England won their maiden World Cup title by staving off New Zealand, in what was undoubtedly the most thrilling final in the history of the tournament.

Rohit Sharma broke the record for the most centuries in a single edition of the World Cup by smashing five tons in the tournament. England skipper Eoin Morgan also entered the record books after hitting the most sixes by an individual in a single match. He hit 17 sixes against Afghanistan. Both Mohammed Shami and Trent Boult took a hat-trick each against Afghanistan and Australia respectively, among other highlights of the tournament.

It is righly said that catches win matches while every run saved is a run scored, especially in the 50-over format. Modern-day fielding has transformed over the ages and fielders nowadays regularly put in superhuman efforts. The standard of fielding was expectedly very high in this tournament as well. There were some unbelievable catches and run-outs in this World Cup which went on to be the decisive efforts in the end.

Here is the list of top three fielders of the tournament.

#3 Glenn Maxwell ( Australia )

Glenn Maxwell- flop with the bat, hit on the field.

Glenn Maxwell is the so-called "X-factor" of the Australian side. He can perform with both the bat and the ball and was also the best fielder of the side in this World Cup. Although he was not able to contribute much with the bat, he made amends for it with his fielding. He contributed the most at the backward-point position and stopped certain boundaries.

Maxwell is also at the third place in the list of the most runs saved by a player. He saved a total of 32 runs in his nine matches and also took two difficult catches with ease during the course of the tournament.

#2 Martin Guptill ( New Zealand )

Martin Guptill was the leading run-scorer of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, but he failed to score too many in this edition of the World Cup. Apart from an unbeaten fifty in the first match, he failed miserably. But he kept covering up for his failure with the bat with his tremendous fielding.

He took an unbelievable catch against Australia to remove Steve Smith. He also dismissed MS Dhoni in the first semi-final of the World Cup by a direct hit and thus ended India's last hopes of entering the final. Guptill's own World Cup ended in tears in the Super Over but as a fielder he had lit up the spectacle.

Guptill is at the number one spot in the list of most runs saved by a player. He saved 47 runs in his ten matches.

#1 Ravindra Jadeja ( India )

Ravindra Jadeja-a revelation in two matches.

Ravindra Jadeja is undoubtedly one of best fielders that India has ever produced. He is also, probably, the best fielder in the world right now. He has taken so many excellent catches and has also saved a lot of runs over the years, but his fielding performance in this World Cup proved why he is a cut above the rest as he played just two games before India were knocked out, but showed his class in them.

Despite not being in the team from the beginning, he contributed as a substitute and took many match-winning catches, including a stunner against Australia. Jadeja also took a brilliant catch to dismiss Jason Roy in a losing cause. He batted and bowled well when he was included in the playing XI but his fielding was exceptionall. He aimed perfectly at a single stump to dismiss Ross Taylor in the first semi-final and on the next ball he took a brilliant catch to dismiss Tom Latham.

Jadeja saved 41 runs in his two matches and is at the second position in the list of most runs saved by a player. Despite being at number two position in the list, he was the best fielder of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
