5 Best WWE video game spin-offs

2K18 releases this fall

WWE 2K18 is all set to hit the stores this fall and in light of its release, we decided to dig deep into the virtual reality world to find out which WWE video game spin-offs did the best to capture fan imagination. The enchanting world of WWE has given us some incredible moments to look back on and its gaming content has increased it ten-fold.

WWE continues to lead the world of pro-wrestling by innovating and expanding, as much as possible and its rapid expansion in gaming has left fans wanting much more.

For years now, WWE has combined with several game developers to produce cutting edge entertainment for gamers to enjoy. These video games are all historic for various reasons. However, there were some that just brought a whole new dimension to gaming and continue to live on in the minds of gamers even years later.

In light of the same, here are the 5 best WWE video game spin-offs ever made:

#5 WWE All Stars (PS3, Xbox 360, 2011)

It mirrored classic gaming content

This was an incredibly exciting game released by WWE in 2011, which mirrored most of the classic gaming content of the 2000s rather than anything related to what was happening at its time.

Its terrific gameplay and cutting-edge graphics made it a real contender in the gaming market. The over-the-top action showcased was in many ways the missing piece of the puzzle when it came to recreating the brilliant work of the past decade. All in all, a really fun game and one that 2K should consider remaking sometime soon.

#4 WWE Smackdown vs Raw (PS2, 2004)

This marked the start of the SvR series.

This was the first game of three successful Smackdown vs Raw series launched by the WWE and marked the start of a real boom in WWE video game sales on the PS2. The career mode was replaced with full-voice acting, and graphics were drastically improved to ensure a virtual experience like no other at the time.

This became the first game to introduce online multiplayer in WWE and included the much-beloved bra and panties mode for fans to play in.

#3 WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It (PS2, 2001)

The first WWE game released on PS2

With the release of the PS2, WWE aimed to cash in by releasing the Just Bring It edition of WWF Smackdown! in 2001.

Its features included a very impressive new career mode, allowing the gamer to now have open access to his career in the WWE by making tough in-game choices to help his career grow in the company. Graphics were improved and game quality was stepped up to ensure the game made for an enjoyable experience.

#2 WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role! (PS1, 2000)

This gave a well-rounded experience to fans

Arguably the most popular game in WWE history, this game was a polished version of its predecessor and delivered a well-rounded virtual experience that captured the imagination like no other.

It aimed to capitalise on wrestling’s popularity at the time by allowing gamers to play career mode with actual storylines as they were played out on TV. An extended roster and impressive create-a-Superstar mode ensured that this game would hit hard and deliver in pretty much every department of virtual excellence.

#1 WWF No Mercy (N64, 2000)

By far the most enjoyable game released by WWE

No WWE game was more enjoyable than this masterpiece released on the virtual reality stage. The game was a trailblazer of its time, with cutting-edge features and new match types for fans to really dig their teeth into.

The customization option allowed you to edit and create superstars and the added benefit of insane pace made this a must-play. It was a true treat for fans who just couldn’t get enough. 2K could definitely learn a thing or two from this exciting version of WWE gaming.
