#1 Always be online
Death Stranding offers an asymmetrical multiplayer experience in which other players around the world can leave equipment such as ropes, ladders, weapons, etc for you. They can even build various structures such as watchtowers, generators as well as bridges whose importance you'll very quickly realize once you start the game.
Hence to have this dynamic fun experience where others are helping you and you're helping others via the social strand system is very essential to realize Death Stranding's full potential as a video game. #2 Always carry more than one Ladder
The ladder is a piece of essential equipment you'll be needing a lot in the early areas of the game, especially since the multiplayer element doesn't kick in right from the beginning.
Traversing rivers and mountains is a difficult task in Death Stranding and can often ruin your cargo if you don't use a ladder to cross them. Once you have laid the ladder, you can only dismantle it and not re-use it. (I was really surprised to find this out), it's recommended to always carry more than one ladder if such a precarious situation occurs.
#3 Do the standard deliveries as well
After a certain period, Sam will get optional delivery missions known as standard deliveries. Now one may wonder why do the same thing if it's not progressing the story? Well, you're dead wrong if you're thinking that.
Standard deliveries are essential because it provides you with better gear and a higher level of fabricating equipment. For example, the Craftsman is a prepper guy in the game whose deliveries will provide you with better versions of grenades and bola gun. Now you wouldn't want to miss out on that, won't you?
#4 Managing your inventory
If there's one thing that's really obnoxious about Death Stranding, it is its map and its inventory, both of which can be very clumsy and confusing to manage.
Even after you have delivered the goods required, you'll almost all the time still be carrying a substantial amount of crafting materials that is taking unnecessary space over Sam's tough shoulders.
Storing all the crafting materials you have gathered along the way in your private storage seems to be the sanest and the safest bet. Keep in mind though that whenever you want to build any structure outside the cities, you need to be carrying all the required materials with you at that time. In other words, you won't be able to use resources until you take it out of the storage locker, unlike for instance in Fallout 76.
#5 Drink all the monster energy drinks in the Private room every time before heading out
The actual Monster energy drinks that are kept in the private room provide you with additional stamina up to 25%. Unlike in real life, you won't die from caffeine rush in Death Stranding even if you have poured down three or more cans in one go.
So do that, because Sam's stamina is crucial throughout making deliveries and the Monster Energy drinks get refilled every time you return back to the private room. So why not use those beauties for your benefit?
