December 2019 Games: Here's what's new

The last month of 2019 and the 2020s decade is here. This year has been very promising, seeing a lot of new and innovative releases and the release of powerful consoles such as the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

November 2019 probably had the best releases this year with Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Pokemon Sword and Shield, NFS: Heat and much more. Unfortunately, it doesn't look December will be able to even come close to that list, let alone top it.

Still, December has some releases which may or may not be exciting for you that are worth looking forward to. Here are 6 games releasing in December 2019.


#6 Arise: A Simple Story

Arise: A Simple Story is a game following the story and memories of two people with a bittersweet taste. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and it is very therapeutic to play in this environment.

Arise: A Simple Story is a platformer where you go through various environments and challenges. You also have the ability to bend time at your will. That mechanic becomes useful later as you'll need to use that in order to navigate through the various levels.


#5 MechWarriors 5: Mercenaries

Before Titanfall was a thing, there was MechWarriors. MechWarriors is a 30-year-old franchise where you pilot a huge mechanical machine to combat other mechs, tanks and other enemies.

The release of MechWarrior 5 is a huge deal to fans, especially long time fans. The last MechWarrior game, MechWarrior 4 was released 19 years ago in 2000. This is the first MechWarrior game to feature technologies from the 2010s, including ray tracing and powerful rendering from NVidia GTX graphic cards.

MechWarrior also has a reputation for being a multiplayer game, but this game will be a fully single player game. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will also be an Epic Games exclusive.


#4 Phoenix Point

Phoenix Point is said to be the spiritual successor of the X-COM game series. The X-COM series has had a cult following over the years and it has spawned a number of sequels, unofficial clones and spiritual successors like Phoenix Point.

Phoenix Point follows the same premise as X-COM games, where humans are under an existential threat from alien invaders. The world will keep expanding through procedural generation and it also features new mechanics such as mutating aliens and competing factions.


#3 Darksiders: Genesis

Available on: PC, Google Stadia

Darksiders: Genesis is not exactly the 4th part of the Darksiders series but it is a spin-off series. The game also finally has the fourth and final Horseman, Strife, from the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse as the protagonist of the game.

Darksiders: Genesis follows the same hack-and-slash formula with platforming elements similar to Diablo and the previous Darksiders games. Players can also switch between Strife and the First Horseman of the Apocalypse, War.

The game will also be available for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2020.


#2 Terminator: Resistance

Available on: PS4, Xbox One

Terminator: Resistance follows the Terminator timeline, right after Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The game has already been released for PC and it was released alongside the new movie Terminator: Dark Fate.

The game is set in the same future where John Connor leads the resistance against Skynet. It also features choices which can have the game end in multiple possible ways. It's also pretty true to the source material.


#1 Halo: The Master Chief Collection

If you're a big Halo fan or one of those fans who have been waiting for years for Halo to come on PC, your time has finally come. The only Halo games till now which were produced for PC were Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

Now, you can get the entire $40 Masterchief Collection which was originally released for the Xbox One on PC. The Masterchief Collection includes remastered versions of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4 and a new addition of Halo: Reach.

There have also been partnerships announced where Microsoft will release their games on Steam as they come out. Halo 5 is currently not available for PC at the moment but we can expect development to come soon and for the new Halo: Infinite to have a possible PC release as well.
