EA Sports announced that FIFA 19 will hit the stores on 28 September 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, while the game's official demo would most likely be launched on 13 September 2018.

There is a lot to look forward to this year's game, as for the first time, FIFA will feature licensed versions of UEFA Champions League, Europa League and the Super Cup. Additionally, the game will include new kick-off modes and host of other gameplay tweaks to nudge the game a step closer to a realistic football experience.

As part of the build-up to the game's release, the company behind the franchise publishes the top-100 players of the game every year, and this year is no different. However, the list does include quite a few surprises with a couple of shock inclusions along with a few questionable player ratings.

In this article, let us look closer at the five truly gifted players who could not make the cut and missed out on the top-20 list.

#5 Hugo Lloris | GK | Tottenham Hotspur | France

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Lloris retains his overall in FIFA 19

In FIFA 19, the French international boasts the same overall as the previous iteration, which was a surprise for a few as Lloris put in some top-draw performances for Tottenham Hotspur last season that saw him keep 15 clean sheets in the process, trailing Manchester United's David de Gea and City's Ederson.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper received a boost for his reflexes and positioning but was his rating for handling was penalised by a point. With no change in the overall, Lloris dropped on the list, moving to the 29th position from the 28th place that he held last year.

Overall - 88

Diving - 88

Handling - 84

Kicking - 68

Reflexes - 92

Speed - 65

Positioning - 83

#4 Paulo Dybala | CAM | Juventus | Argentina

Parma Calcio v Juventus - Serie A
Dybala's overall receives an upgrade in FIFA 19

Paulo Dybala just misses the top-20 list and is ranked 21 in EA Sports top-100 players list. The 24-year-old Argentine international has been at the forefront for Juventus in Serie A during the 2017/18 season. Dybala netted 22 goals for the Turin club in the league and led his club to yet another league title.

In FIFA 19, La Joya boasts excellent attributes for passing and dribbling, making him an excellent playmaker in any team. An upgrade to his passing attribute took his overall up by a point.

Overall - 89

Pace - 85

Shooting - 85

Passing - 84

Dribbling - 91

Defending - 28

Physical - 66

#3 David Silva | CAM | Manchester City | Spain

Manchester City v Huddersfield Town - Premier League
David Silva sees a huge jump in his ranking

David Silva has travelled quite a lot of places in this year's rankings to move to the 24th place, which meant that the Spaniard would be out of the top-20 rankings for yet another year.

The 32-year-old central attacking midfielder is well past his prime but still managed to turn quite a few heads while playing for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium during the 2017/18 Premier League season. In that title-winning season under Pep Guardiola, Silva played a crucial role in setting up goals and finished the season in the third place on the assists table.

El Mago's overall increased by two points this year, which was chiefly due to the 4-point boost seen for his dribbling attribute.

Overall - 89

Pace - 66

Shooting - 74

Passing - 87

Dribbling - 91

Defending - 50

Physical - 60

#2 Gareth Bale | RW | Real Madrid | Wales

Wales v Republic of Republic of Ireland - UEFA Nations League B
Gareth Bale failed to even make the top-30 list

Gareth Bale scored 16 goals and set up three more in LaLiga during the 2017/2018 season in 26 games for Real Madrid. That is an impressive tally as the Welshman had missed out on almost three months of footballing action due to injuries. His moment of magic for the Los Blancos came during the Champions League final, where he netted two goals to seal yet another Champions League title for the Madrid Club.

Bale's overall saw a drop of one point, which ensured that he wouldn't be placed higher than the 31st place. The 29-year-old footballer's stats for pace and shooting showed improvement while a point was dropped from his dribbling attribute.

Overall - 88

Pace - 95

Shooting - 88

Passing - 84

Dribbling - 85

Defending - 58

Physical - 76

#1 Mohamed Salah | RW | Liverpool | Egypt

Liverpool FC v West Ham United - Premier League
Salah's 88 overall might come as a disappointment to many

Mohamed Salah's 88 overall and the fact that the prolific Egyptian would be missing out on the top-20 list is a disappointment to a large section of the football fans.

Salah produced a near-perfect spell for the Merseyside club during the 2017/2018 Premier League season that saw him secure the Golden Boot with 32 goals to his name, two goals more than England's and Spur's striker Harry Kane. Furthermore, the Egyptian set up a good portion of his team's goals to propel them to a fourth-place finish.

The 26-year-old receives a huge boost to his overall in FIFA 19 and boasts extraordinary stats for pace and dribbling, making him a very dangerous player on the wide areas of the pitch. The only setback is the average rating for his passing skill.

Overall - 88

Pace - 92

Shooting - 84

Passing - 79

Dribbling - 89

Defending - 45

Physical - 72
