Epic Games is bringing back their controversial re-deployable gliders to Fortnite in the next v7.20 update. It is not going to be the same as last time though. Epic has mentioned that they have tested some ways that can balance the item so that it can provide good balance and utility.

There will be downtime to schedule the update on 5 AM ET / 10 AM GMT / 6.30 PM IST, January 15. We don't know how long the downtime will be but once it's done, redeployable gliders will be back in the game. The update will be available on all platforms.

What was so controversial about it last time? Redeployable gliders were tested back in Season 6 and they were pretty unfair. You could always redeploy a glider if you were at least three stories in the air. This provided players with lots of mobility and very hard to target.

This time though, the functioning of the redeployable gliders will be a little different. As confirmed in their blog post, Gliders will be itemized which means that it will take up a slot in your inventory. You can also find the Gliders in loot, chests, vending machines and supply llamas.

The Gliders will also have limited charge and each time you deploy the glider, a charge is consumed. Launch Pads, Rifts-to-Go, and LTM respawns will not consume a charge, since it puts you in Skydiving mode.

In large battle modes such as Soaring 50s, players will automatically be granted a Glider with 50 charges once they deploy from the Battle Bus.

Did Fortnite really need the Gliders again? Players in communities such as Reddit have mentioned that there is already too much mobility in the game and the item should just stick to LTMs.

The item was not so welcomed by players. Even in communities such as Twitter, players are not sure whether they want the item back.
