Fortnite: Battle Royale recently received a major overhaul with the v7.30 content update that introduced a slew of changes to the gameplay mechanics along with new weapons and items.

That is not the last of the updates for Season 7 as Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite franchise, announced via a Reddit post that v7.40 update would bring in further changes to the game that primarily focuses on improving the overall balance of Fortnite.

Only a sneak peek of the future update was provided on the site, which showcased two major changes.

Planes will no longer be able to smash through structures, and people will be given fall damage immunity while riding Ziplines. These two changes along with the Zipline interact prompt brought out joy from large sections of the Fortnite community as these problems had plagued the users for quite a while.

Other changes as outlined in the Reddit post include:

  • Hand Cannon structure damage reduced from 150 to 100
  • Turbo Build delay decreased from 0.15s to 0.05s
  • Rocket Launcher reload time increased from 2.52s to 3.24s
  • Added the ability to crouch while in Edit Mode

Furthermore, the developers also urged players to watch out for the Share the Love event that would drop in with the v7.40 update. Interestingly, this event would contain overtime challenges, which when completed, would earn the user five rewards including the Valentine Wrap and Vines Contrail.

Naturally, the comments in the Reddit thread were largely positive as the update would effectively nerf Rocket Launchers, Planes and Hand Cannons, favouring building and other mechanics of the game.

Fortnite: Battle Royale is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and select Android devices.
