PMCO Fall Split Global Finals 2019 Team Spotlight: SouL is all set to slay the big stage

PUBG Mobile Club Open Fall Split Global Finals will be held between 29th November and 1st December at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The event will see 16 teams from various parts of the world competing for the title and SouL will be taking part as the runners-up of South Asia.

The history and formation of SouL

Team SouL is a professional PUBG Mobile team based in India. The team was formed in 2018 and has been headed by popular PUBG Mobile Athlete and streamer MortaL, ever since. The team initially consisted of Naman "MortaL" Mathur, Yash "VipeR" Soni, Harpreet "RonaK" Singh and Mohammed Owais Lakhani.

Fans began fearing the end of team SouL post MortaL's brief break from competitive gaming and the departure of OWAIS and RonaK, post PUBG Mobile Star Challenge 2019. With MortaL's re-entry into the Esports scene, Parv "ReGaLToS" Singh and Vivek "ClutchGod" Horo joined in, and SouL announced resuming their participation in competitive tournaments.

Notable Achievements of SouL

Post their inception in 2018, SouL won PUBG Mobile India Series in March 2019 and took home a prize money of $41,806. The team rose to immense fame garnered a lot of fans after they won PMCO Spring Split 2019's Indian Championship and earned a seat at the Global Finals. They were placed 12th at overall leaderboard.

  • Naman "MortaL" Mathur: MortaL is SouL's in-game leader and attacker. He's well-known for his DP 28 spays and is one of the most-loved PUBG Mobile athlketes in India.
  • Yash "VipeR" Soni: Viper is the team's sniper and attacker
  • Parv "ReGaLToS" Singh: ReGaLToS is SouL's attacker and one of the newst addition's to the team.
  • Vivek "ClutchGod" Horo: ClutchGod is the team's attacker and the youngest player in the line-up.

Hemant "FROST" Middha is SouL's substitute.

SouL's run in PMCO 2019

SouL won the Indian qualifier of PMCO Spring Split 2019 garnering 254 points including 86 kill points and two chicken dinners. During the Global Finals of the tournament, they secured 181 points with just 33 kills and a chicken dinner.

While SouL was playing low-key through out the PMCO Fall Split South Asia Group Stage and Play-ins by placing in positions 10 and 15 respectively, their gameplay at the South Asian Finals shook fans.

The team was extremely aggressive and prioritized kills over placement. SouL ganered the most number of kills(93) in the South Asian Finals and stood second in the leaderboad. The team secured 210 points without a single chicken dinner and qualified to play the Global Finals alongside Entity Gaming.

A close look at the SouL's performance at Spring Split and comparing it with their gameplay in Fall Split will point towards a stark change in the team's approach towards the game and their strategy. While they were relying solely on survial and banked on their placement points during the Spring Split, they have shifted focus to garner as many kills as possible, this time around. SouL has transformed into a more dynamic, aggresive team lately and it has brought out the best in each of its players, making them a team to watch out for at PMCO Fall Split 2019 Global Finals.
