Red Dead Redemption 2: 5 things I absolutely loved doing in the beautiful Wild West

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge and beautiful game. The scope of everything it offers to its players can't be described in words. Everyone's version of Arthur Morgan likes to indulge in different activities provided in this enormous world of Red Dead Redemption 2 and no two players might have had the same experience with the game, other than the conclusion of the main story of course.

Here's what I really enjoyed in doing Rockstar's version of Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2. Keep in mind when I say 'loved' because I absolutely adored these things over anything else the game offers.

#1 Brewing Coffee

There's nothing better than well-brewed coffee.

Yes, Red Dead Redemption 2 deserves the game of the year award for just adding the coffee brewing mechanism in the game. To make it more realistic, Rockstar Games added a large number of features and I absolutely love them all, but this stands out as the most important one for me.

I spent countless hours going off to the general stores in Red Dead Redemption 2 to buy ground coffee and brew them up in the camp. What I really enjoyed and had the most sense of satisfaction in the game was waking up every morning at the crack of dawn at the camp with every member of Van der Linde's gang going on their usual chores and some of them near the campfire having their drinks in the hands.

My version of Arthur Morgan absolutely loved joining them at the campfire for a cup of hot coffee while I greeted every single one of them. Abigail, Sadie, John and even Uncle. I did say Good morning to every single one of them, every single day. I didn't even realize when it became a part of my real life.

#2 Spending time with little Jack

The best thing about Red Dead Redemption 2 was most definitely its camp system. Like I already mentioned earlier, I loved spending time drinking coffee and talking to every single member of the Van der Linde gang. But what stood out the most out of them was little Jack Marston who lived in his own little world for the most part of the game.

Being the smallest member of Dutch's gang everybody loved and cared for Jack, my version of Arthur Morgan the most. When everyone else was busy worrying about their fate and the future, Jack would usually be found strolling around with a book in his hand or a muddy stick with absolutely no worry about the real world. This is what stuck with me the most. Whenever there was a melancholic tone in the narrative, Jack was completely opposite and hence I loved spending time with him.

Whether it was going fishing with him, finding him another one of the books he wanted to read (even if it meant flying across the entire map for hours) or even just greeting him every time I passed by after finishing the main mission; it was a time well spent.

#3 Throwing people on the Railway tracks

Okay, this is where the grey version of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2 comes into play. I'm actually shocked at how much I enjoyed lassoing people and carrying them onto the back of a horse on my adventures until I found a perfect spot at the train track and laid them down, only to wait for the train to come at full speed and blow them into pieces. Actually no wait, not even pieces were left after that.

I know it sounds gross but hey, having fun is important right? It's not like I'm going to do it in real life. My first experience with this was at Rhodes when this really annoying man started arguing for a reason and well the next thing I know I'm dragging him onto the train track which was right there in front of me.

#4 Finding Treasures

One of the most challenging yet fun aspects of the game.

What's most exciting as well as terrifying about finding treasures in Red Dead Redemption 2 via the treasure maps you find in the world is that it doesn't hold your hands at all.

The maps Arthur Morgan finds will only give you a landscape and a specific location inside it where you can find the next clue for that treasure. The terrifying fact is that this landscape can be pretty much anywhere in the massive world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

However, what's really exciting about all of this is that it makes you feel like a real treasure hunter living in America during the Wild West. I spent an entire Sunday morning with a friend of mine looking for the "High Stakes treasure" in the game. It took us about 4-5 hours discussing and brainstorming which area would the map be pointing at, even after finding the exact landscape, it isn't easy to find the particular spot where the treasure is being held at. It took us quite a while to get and even though the reward could have been much better, the journey was all that mattered in the end.

#5 Exploring creepy houses at night

The survival horror freak in me couldn't control his emotions when I first ventured into the dense swampy areas of Lemoyne state in Red Dead Redemption 2.

That place offers a lot of terror whether it be in the form of Alligators, Night folks that would slash your guts and eat it right away and creepy looking places that might right be out of a Resident Evil game (Looking at you RE 7).

I found one such homestead in fact when I was venturing around, an incest couple who immediately reminded me of the Baker family from Resident Evil 7 for some reason. They invited me in for foods and drinks. Of course, I knew it was a trap but I still went in and decided to play cool. As it turned out, it was too late for that and they looted me after getting me stone-drunk.

Another interesting encounter happened when I came across an isolated house with the note sticking out at the front door that the government has taken control of the property. What intrigued me the most about this place was an abandoned well inside the same campus which I dared to climb into. It reminded me of The Ring movie and god was I scared going into the darkness.

These are all the things I loved doing my time in Red Dead Redemption 2's huge open world.
