Red Dead Redemption 2: Rockstar works towards fixing Red Dead Online issues

If you're one of the early adopters of Red Dead Online and you've noticed that the in-game economy is a little... out of wack, you're not alone. The ridiculously high price of items combined with the ridiculously low payout of missions and other activities have been one of the few low points of an otherwise pretty successful launch.

Fortunately, Rockstar has heard the complaints and are actually responding. Wait, taking the concerns and complaints of their customers seriously without having to be shamed into it? Are game companies even allowed to do that?

So, what are they planning on doing?

Glad you asked:

  • Increasing the cash and gold payments across a number of different activities including Free Roam Missions, Free Roam Events, replays of A Land of Opportunities Missions, Showdown Series modes and more.
  • If hunting, fishing and trading are your preferred methods of income, worry not. Rockstar will also be "balancing" the values of some pelts, skins (aren't those pelts?), and fish.
  • The prices of items are going to be reduced, as well. Items from both the catalogue as well as the various gunsmiths will be lowered.
  • If you purchased an item that has its price reduced, expect a refund for the difference shortly. It'll be credited to players automatically, although it can take until Monday December 10th to get it.

But, that's not all. If you've played the Beta anytime between launch and today, Rockstar will be giving you $250 and 15 gold bars as their way of saying "hey, sorry about that." In-game currency, of course. Still, that's pretty good for correcting an issue in a Beta since, you know, that's the whole point of having a Beta test.

Of course, those weren't the only issues with the game to be sussed out by the Beta, but they were the most high profile. Issues such as players getting kicked out of a session, as well as others, will be covered in a future announcement soon.
