The Game Awards
The Game Awards

The Game Awards 2019 is created and hosted by Geoff Keighley every year and is one of the most prominent Gaming Awards show for the Video Game Industry. This year's award show would be an extensive celebration of video games and fans can expect a lot of game announcements and world premiers. Considering that this year marks the fifth anniversary of The Game Awards, gamers might be in for a real treat.

Here are 6 things we absolutely need to see at The Game Awards this year:

#6. Bayonetta 3 game play reveal and a release date

Platinum Games' Bayonetta 3 is one of Nintendo's most highly anticipated game that has been in dark for quite some time. Platinum Games which is widely known for Nier Automata, released Astral Chain, a hack n slash action-adventure game, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

Astral Chain received a positive response from critics and fans alike. One could speculate that Platinum's other big project Bayonetta 3 was delayed internally because of the game without any update of when the game was going to be released.

Bayonetta 3 was first revealed two years ago at The Game Awards 2017 with a short teaser only showing off the game's logo. Nintendo and Platinum Games' have been pretty silent about the game's development since then. Hopefully that's going to change very soon as The Game Awards 2019 is not far.

#5. Live performance of Death Stranding by CHVRCHES

Live musical performance of popular scores from the year's biggest games have become a ritual at The Game Awards. Every year fans get to witness live performance from the greatest musicians from across the globe.

Last year, Casey Edwards and Ali Edwards perform Devil Trigger from Devil May Cry 5, and the music of Red Dead Redemption 2. This year, Death Stranding has been quite a musical affair, featuring a lot of original tracks from Khalid, Silent Poets and Low Roar and the game's main track "Death Stranding" by CHVRCHES stands out.

#4. A new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch Productions' next big open-world game Ghost of Tsushima is going to be the last big PS4 exclusive title from Sony before we venture into the era of PS5. However, information regarding the game has been really thin and fans haven't seen any footage of the game since E3 2018.

Ghost of Tsushima was initially planned for a summer 2020 release, but with the recent The Last of Us 2 that is releasing on 29th May 2020, its highly likely that the community will not see Ghost of Tsushima hit the shelves before August 2020.

With no PlayStation Experience event planned for this year, The Game Awards 2019 is the only major event Sony will get to reveal any information or game play footage for Ghost of Tsushima.

#3. A new Batman Game from WB Games Montreal

Arkham Origins

WB Games Montreal of Batman Arkham: Origins fame has been teasing a Batman game for months now. Back in September, WB Games Montreal teased a cryptic teaser of the game with "Capture the Knight" as the caption.

Many have been speculating that this new game in the Arkham franchise is about Court of Owls since the author for Court of Owls posted a tweet on the same day saying "Wait for it." The tweet, was eventually removed perhaps because WB Montreal wasn't ready to share the news yet.

With Rocksteady working on a next generation game, which certainly won't be out before early 2021, its to safe to assume that WB Montreal will be the one to quench our thirst for a Batman game in 2020.

#2. A new Dragon Age 4 trailer

All we know about the next entry in critically acclaimed role playing saga Dragon Age 4 is that it is being developed at Bioware and that it takes place right after the events of Dragon Age: Inquistion.

Last year at The Game Awards 2018, Bioware revealed this next chapter in the Dragon Age franchise with a short teaser called "The Dread Wolf Rises." This made it clear that the next Dragon Age game was still being developed and won't be released anytime before 2020 or even on the current generation of consoles.

However with the numerous vague/ comical tweets from Mark Darrah, the Executive Producer of Bioware, in the last 24 hours might seem to point that another teaser or a cinematic trailer may be planned for this year's The Game Awards event.

#1. Elden Ring gameplay and release date reveal

FromSoftware is going to be at The Game Awards this year as their latest game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been nominated for numerous award categories, including the Game of the Year.

Sekiro was first revealed back at The Game Awards 2018 with a cryptic teaser that didn't even reveal the name of the game. Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware are currently hard at work on their next big project which is a collaboration with author George RR Martin.

Elden Ring was first announced at Micorsoft's E3 2019 stage and since then has been kept in dark. As FromSoftware tends to release their titles in Spring of every year, one could expect Elden Ring to release sometime in that time period, as well. The Game Awards 2019 seems to be the perfect place for the game play reveal as a release date announcement for the same.
