Max Verstappen has been in fine form in the current season. While he's yet to win a race and given the fact that his closest competitors- Vettel in a Ferrari and Bottas in that Mercedes- are in faster, it can't be denied that the Dutchman has made quite a few inroads this season.

While he may not be among the top three in the current driver standings, it must be noted that Sebastian Vettel, with 82 points, is only 4 ahead of the Red Bull driver.

Heading into the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen made a candid confession about his journey as an F1 driver. This, it must be reminded, isn't any ordinary talent.

Verstappen, whose personal best at Canada happens to the P3 he garnered last year, touched on the emotional subject of his relationship with his father, Joe Verstappen. It is worthwhile to mention that Joe Verstappen, instrumental in making Max the driver he is today, also raced in F1 back in 1994.

That said, here is what the winner of the 2018 Mexican Grand Prix had to say about his father:

“From a young age, my Dad always drilled into me that you have to keep working hard. It’s not only on-track but also off-track you’ve got to always keep improving the car and yourself.”

“You’ve got to use all the tools you have around you to try to find a better set-up or to try to find a way that makes you feel more comfortable in the car. My Dad was always pushing me to do that, to find extra performance,” explained Verstappen."

Verstappen, needlessly to say, holds massive respect for his father Joe, now 47. According to the famous Dutchman, it was his father who instilled in Max the need to push hard and go that extra bit in becoming a fine driver.
