Grand Prix of America is uncertain

The status of the 2014 Grand Prix of America was left unclear again after West New York Mayor Felix Roque dismissed claims by Bernie Ecclestone that the 2014 Grand Prix of America is officially off.

CEO of Formula One, Ecclestone claimed on Friday that the Grand Prix was called off due to the lack of funds.

“It’s not on the cards for next year. They haven’t got any money,” he said to CNN.

However, Roque insists that the race will go ahead as planned next year.

“As far as we are concerned, the race is still on. The construction crews are working diligently on Boulevard East, getting curbs and sidewalks done. … They are out there today,” said Roque to NJ.com.

“The race will be a big boom to the local and state and economy. This will put us on the map worldwide,” he added.

Finances still remain as a major talking point, but the organizers refused to comment by saying that they will only respond after FIA has released its 2014 calendar.
