Match 13 of the Mzansi Super League 2019 pits Jozi Stars and Paarl Rocks against one another at the Boland Park in Paarl. Both sides have started slowly in MSL. While Paarl Rocks have seven points from three games with a bonus point as well, Jozi Stars have lost all their four games so far. Despite boasting the likes of Chris Gayle and Kagiso Rabada in their ranks, Jozi Stars have been underwhelming in their defence of the MSL title.

Time is running out for the defending champions with the halfway mark of the tournament fast approaching. Both teams seem quite formidable on paper with a competitive game on the cards on Friday. Here are a few tips to help you pick your Dream11 team for PR vs JOZ.

Squads to choose from

Paarl Rocks

Faf du Plessis (C), Henry Davids, James Vince, JP Duminy, Dwaine Pretorius, Isuru Udana, Cameron Delport, Kerwin Mungroo, Ferisco Adams, Kyle Verreynne, Mangaliso Mosehle, Tabraiz Shamsi, Hardus Viljoen, Bjorn Fortuin, Sibonelo Makhanya, and Thando Ntini.

Jozi Stars

Temba Bavuma (C), Reeza Hendricks, Chris Gayle, Rassie van der Dussen, Kagiso Rabada, Daniel Christian, Simon Harmer, Ryan Rickelton, Sinethemba Qeshile, Aaron Phangiso, Duanne Olivier, Delano Potgieter, Dane Paterson, Nono Pongolo, Lizaad Williams.

Playing XI Updates

Paarl Rocks

Faf du Plessis and the Paarl Rocks team management shouldn't be making any changes to the side that featured against Tshwane Spartans. Apart from James Vince, none of the other batsmen were able to convert their starts. Much is expected from Faf du Plessis as well, who didn't trouble the scoreboard in the previous game. Paarl Rocks have ample batting depth with Dwaine Pretorius and Hardus Viljoen capable of clearing the boundary at will. Their spin twins, Bjorn Fortuin and Tabriaz Shamsi will be key along with Isuru Udana, whose variations have already earned him a few wickets.

Possible XI: Davids, Delport, Vince, Du Plessis(C), Pretorius, Mosehle (WK), Udana, Viljoen, Shamsi, Fortuin and Mungroo.

Jozi Stars

As for the Stars, they are yet to stick with a fixed combination with a lot of changes being made to the side. They will look to field their strongest side and back them on Friday. Chris Gayle and Rassie van der Dussen have critically underwhelmed for the Stars with only Bavuma and Hendricks standing up with decent knocks. Sinethemba Qeshile should retain his place ahead of Rickelton while Christian and Harmer occupy the middle order spots. Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier should share the new ball once again with Aaron Phangiso's left-arm spin being one to watch out for in this game.

Possible XI: Hendricks, Gayle, Bavuma(C), Dussen, Christian, Qeshile (WK), Phangiso, Harmer, Rabada, Olivier and Paterson.

Pitch Report

As seen in the previous game between Paarl Rocks and Tshwane Spartans, a fine batting track will be on offer for this game as well. While there isn't much spin for the tweakers to exploit, off pace deliveries should be effective on such a surface. Chasing is the preferred choice for team's winning the toss at this venue.

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions

Wicket-keeper: Both Mangaliso Mosehle and Sinethemba Qeshile bat in the middle order for their respective sides. Although Mosehle is the more experienced of the two, Qeshile's ability to finish games is why he is preferred over the Paarl Rocks wicket-keeper for this slot in the fantasy team.

Batsmen: James Vince's superlative knock in the previous game holds him good stead. His fellow teammates, Faf du Plessis and Henry Davids are also viable options while Reeza Hendricks should also score some runs at the top of the order. Rassie van der Dussen hasn't fired in the tournament and will be looking to make amends on what is a good batting track at the Boland Park. While he is a good candidate, Chris Gayle could also be picked if the balance of the side permits.

All-rounders: Dwaine Pretorius is a must-have in the side with his expertise with both bat and ball being vital to the Paarl Rocks side. Another such option would be Daniel Christian, who is due for a big performance in MSL 2019. If an extra all-rounder is required, Simon Harmer would fit the bill with the Essex all-rounder being a genuine wicket-taking threat.

Bowlers: Kagiso Rabada and Bjorn Fortuin are must-haves for this game with both of them bound to pick a wicket or two in this game. Along with the aforementioned duo, Hardus Viljoen and Duanne Olivier are also decent picks for this game with the former capable of scoring quick runs as well. Tabriaz Shamsi could also be opted for with the Chinaman accounting for four wickets in two games.

Captain: Rassie van der Dussen was the highest run-scorer in MSL 2018 with 469 runs. In spite of his growing reputation in South African colours as well, he hasn't been in the best of forms this season. Nevertheless, he should be backed to make an impact against Paarl Rocks as he is the front-runner for the multiplier options. Along with Dussen, the likes of Dwaine Pretorius and Henry Davids also fit the bill as captain or vice-captain.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Sinethemba Qeshile, Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, Henry Davids, Faf du Plessis, Dan Christian, Simon Harmer, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Hardus Viljoen and Bjorn Fortuin. Captain: Rassie van der Dussen, Vice-Captain: Henry Davids

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Mangaliso Mosehle, James Vince, Rassie van der Dussen, Henry Davids, Reeza Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius, Daniel Christian, Duanne Olivier, Kagiso Rabada, Tabriaz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin. Captain: Dwaine Pretorius, Vice-Captain: Rassie van der Dussen.
