Ranking the top 10 active Premier League goalscorers.

The Premier League is widely regarded as one of the best and most competitive football leagues in the world.

With the competition also being the richest football league on the planet, several world-class players have graced it over the years. There have been numerous goals scored and multiple prolific goalscorers as well.

The Premier League's all-time scoring chart is dominated by strikers, but also has a few midfielders. The same also holds true for the current crop of players active in the competition. On that note, here's a look at the ten active top scorers in the Premier League at the moment.

#10 Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) - 74 goals

Son Heung-min has scored a lot of goals in the Premier League.

Son Heung-min has been a consistent performer in the Premier League since his arrival in the competition in the summer of 2015.

The South Korean winger endured a quiet debut season in the English top flight, bagging just four goals and an assist. But he has more than found his mojo in the Premier League, bagging at least ten goals in each of his next five campaigns. In each of his last two seasons, Son also registered at least ten assists, apart from as many goals.

Despite his career-best Premier League campaign last season - 17 goals and ten assists - Spurs only qualified for the inaugural Europa Conference League. Son has already tallied four goals and an assist in seven games this season.

#9 Theo Walcott (Southampton) - 78 goals

Theo Walcott has been active in the Premier League for almost two decades. Since breaking out as a precocious teenager with Arsenal in 2006-07, the striker has registered 78 goals in over 370 appearances in the competition.

The 32-year-old, now playing for Southampton, has scored only three Premier League goals for the club. Walcott netted just ten times in the league in three seasons with Everton before arriving with the Saints.

Once likened to Gunners legend Thierry Henry, Walcott has largely failed to live up to expectations. He has scored ten goals (or more) in a Premier League season only twice, both for Arsenal (2012-13 and 2016-17).

#8 Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace) - 83 goals

Christian Benteke had a good start to life in the Premier League when he first arrived in the competition almost a decade ago.

He scored 19 goals in his debut Premier League campaign for Crystal Palace to put the league on notice. Benteke followed that up with two more prolific campaigns, scoring 13 and ten goals, respectively.

After a lone campaign with Liverpool, where he scored nine league goals, Benteke had a good first season with Crystal Palace, netting 15 times. However, he has largely struggled to find the back of the net since then, scoring only 17 times in his next five campaigns, including one this campaign.

#7 Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) - 87 goals

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to the Premier League after more than a decade. Widely regarded as one of the best players to have graced the game, the 36-year-old is closing in on 100 goals in the competition.

During a prolific six-season stint in the Premier League in the 2000s, Ronaldo scored 84 times, winning three titles. On his return to Manchester United this summer, Ronaldo scored a brace in his first Premier League game in 12 years.

Although he has scored just once in his last four outings, there is little doubt about Ronaldo overcoming this blip and returning to goalscoring ways. If things go as expected, the Portugal captain could be the latest entrant in the Premier League's 100-goals club by the end of the season.

#6 Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) - 97 goals

Raheem Sterling has been in the Premier League for a decade. But he has only blossomed into a world-class winger and prolific scorer since his move to Manchester City in the summer of 2016.

After four quiet Premier League campaigns with Liverpool, Sterling has scored nearly 80 times in the competition for holders City. He has endured a slow start to his current campaign, though, scoring only once in eight games.

However, the Euro 2020 finalist with England has contributed massively to City's three Premier League triumphs in the last four years. Sterling has scored 45 goals and also provided 35 assists in this time. Although he scored a career-best 20 goals in the 2019-20 campaign, City were beaten to the Premier League title by a rampant Liverpool side.

#5 Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - 100 goals

Sadio Mane has been the epitome of consistency in the Premier League. The Senegal international has scored at least ten goals in each of his last seven campaigns in the competition, five of them with Liverpool.

Mane has had a good start to his 2021-22 campaign, scoring five times in eight games. His latest strike in the competition took the 29-year-old winger to 100 Premier League goals, a milestone achieved by only two other African players.

The former Southampton winger played a key role in Liverpool's triumphant 2019-20 Premier League campaign, bagging 18 goals and nine assists.

#4 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 104 goals

Mohamed Salah, on current form, is one of the best players in the game.

In only his fifth season at the club, the Liverpool winger has already scored over 100 Premier League goals for the Reds. His two other goals in the competition came during a forgettable stint with Chelsea, where he was deemed surplus to requirements.

It is fair to say Salah has played a huge role in the resurgence of Liverpool as a force to be reckoned with in England and Europe. The 29-year-old started his 2021-22 campaign on a tear, becoming the first player to score in five consecutive Premier League opening-day games. Two months later, he is already up to seven goals for the season.

Earlier this season, Salah emulated Didier Drogba to become only the second African player to score 100 times in the Premier League. The two-time Golden Boot winner bagged 19 goals and ten assists in Liverpool's 2019-20 Premier League-winning campaign.

#3 Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea) - 118 goals

Romelu Lukaku has been a prolific scorer in the Premier League. He has scored over 100 goals in the competition for four different clubs.

Now playing for Champions League holders Chelsea, Lukaku has hit the ground running on his return to the Blues after almost a decade. The former Inter Milan striker scored in Chelsea's win over Arsenal and netted a brace against Aston Villa two games later.

Although he has drawn a blank in his last four games, it's only a matter of time before the 2020-21 Serie A winner returns to scoring ways. Despite Lukaku's lean run, Chelsea are atop the Premier League table after eight games.

#2 Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) - 125 goals

Jamie Vardy has found amazing levels of success in the Premier League.
Jamie Vardy has found amazing levels of success in the Premier League.

Jamie Vardy is one of the feel-good stories of the Premier League. After playing non-league football just a decade ago, Vardy played a key role in Leicester City's fairy-tale triumph in the 2015-16 Premier League. The striker scored 24 league goals that campaign and hasn't looked back since.

Aging like fine wine, Vardy has scored at least 13 goals in each of his next five Premier League campaigns. In 2019-20, the Englishman scored 23 times to win his first Golden Boot. That campaign, Vardy also brought up his 100th goal in the English top flight.

The 34-year-old has started his 2021-22 campaign on a tear, having already scored seven times in eight games.

#1 Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) - 167 goals

Harry Kane is one of the most prolific goalscorers in Premier League history. The Tottenham Hotspur striker has scored 167 goals in the competition, all for his current club.

Last season, the 28-year-old brought up his 150th Premier League strike, helping Spurs to a win at West Bromwich Albion. In one of his career-best seasons, Kane scored 23 times and also provided 14 assists to top both leaderboards in the 2020-21 campaign. However, Spurs only finished a lowly seventh despite Kane's blistering exploits.

Kane has endured a slow start to his 2021-22 campaign, scoring only once in seven games. However, he is widely tipped to break Sergio Aguero's record (184 goals) to become the most prolific Premier League goalscorer for a single club.

Whether that happens this season remains to be seen though, after an offseason that almost saw Kane exit the club.
