10 reasons to RANT after Arsenal's humiliating 2-1 defeat at Newcastle

OUCH
OUCH.

Arsenal travelled to Newcastle United and put up another pathetic display of footballing apathy for their fans who tuned in to watch them, or worse, travelled with them to Saint James' Park.

The visitors took the lead following both strikers linking up for the Gunners - Auba to Laca. Arsenal's vintage disintegration was on full display in the following 75 minutes of the game as they were first pegged back to a goal each before being finished off by the home side in the 68th minute.

Here are 10 (from an incredibly long list of) reasons to rant for the Gunners following the abysmal performance in the league by their side.

#10 Arsenal lose their first game in 13 years at Newcastle

Newcastle United v Arsenal - Premier League
Legacy in ruins?

Arsenal were in for another setback in a season of setbacks, as they travelled to Saint James' Park in vain.

The visitors were unbeaten at Newcastle in over a decade but they decided to throw that record away, putting in a display worth being vilified and berated for.

A record which was carefully orchestrated by years of hard-work put in by the manager with multiple sides for the same club.

Arsenal Fan TV are going to have a field-day, aren't they?

#9 This was Arsenal's 9th defeat in 2018

Newcastle United v Arsenal - Premier League
Yet another goal conceded, yet another three points dropped

Yeah, can you believe it?! And to think that we're only still in April!

Wow. That is by far the worst start to a calendar year for the football club and their manager. Arsenal have been in horrendous form since the turn of the year and have failed to arrest their slide out of the top four - out of contention for Champions League qualification.

Those numbers are seriously mind-boggling considering that they've lost or drawn more games than they have won ever since a certain Chilean decided to switch allegiances.

#8 Burnley are now just two points adrift of the North London club

Burnley v Stoke City - Premier League
Will Burnley push the Gunners further down the league table?

Sean Dyche's side is now just a couple of points behind the Gunners as the relatively new proposition in the Premier League is now in a position to overtake one of the powerhouses of English football.

How the fans are ever going to be able to cope with that is beyond us, considering that they're made from a budget that makes the Arsenal's look like one of those relief packages announced by politicians following disasters.

And evidence suggests, Arsenal's budget is almost as inconsequential as those bloated packages which provide little to no relief.

#7 No League Title

Arsenal Victory Parade
The Arsenal faithful have been longing for a repeat of 2004

The Gunners have long been one of the most dominant forces in English football but now that seems like a really long time ago, doesn't it?

Arsenal haven't been able to lay their hands on the League Trophy ever since they managed to do it in unbelievable fashion back in 2004 - going unbeaten through the season.

It appears that their dominance has been waning and if their performance against the Magpies was anything to go by, it most certainly seems to be a thing of the past.

#6 No League Title, No League Cup

Arsenal v Manchester City - Carabao Cup Final
*****

Ok. Even the most ardent Gunner has lowered expectations, as far as winning the league is concerned. Arsenal fans have now become accustomed to seeing their side only challenge for one of the top four spots without any hope of claiming the top-most one.

So then, you would expect Wenger to prioritise other competitions such as the League Cup in order to bolster the trophy cabinet.

Well...

The Frenchman has never been able to win the Carabao Cup or the Carling Cup or whichever booze company decides next to sponsor the competition. It is, in fact, the only Cup in English Football that still eludes the manager in his over two-decade spell with the club.

This season, the heartache from the final fixture would've left him hoping that they shouldn't have made the final - due to the humiliation at the hands of City at the Wembley.

#5 No League Title, No League Cup, No FA Cup

Nottingham Forest v Arsenal - The Emirates FA Cup Third Round
*****

So with no league and no League Cup to bank on, for the past decade and a half or so, the FA Cup has become the club's latest calling card in the past few seasons as they've managed to salvage some pride by winning the most elite cup competition in England - the FA Cup.

In fact, the Gunners have managed to extend their advantage in the history of the competition, as the most successful club, by winning the title in three out of the last four years - a major reason why Wenger is still in charge at the club.

No other manager has won the Cup more times than the Frenchman, but this season even the FA Cup knocked the man down, when he was already reeling, as absolute minnows Nottingham Forest from the Championship proved to be too stern a test for his side.

#4 No League, No League Cup, No FA Cup, No Champions League

Arsenal
Arsenal had to watch bitter rivals Tottenham take the stage in Europe instead

Arsenal had become a constant in the most elite competition in Europe having qualified for a 16th consecutive season under Arsene Wenger the season before last.

Arsenal fans could rely on their side finishing in the top four in the League and could then look forward to those glamorous nights in Europe. More magic to look forward to - a Henry special against Zanetti or at the Bernabeu, Fabregas' masterclass against Juve or beating Bayern at the Allianz.

However, the horrible run of form that the Gunners seem to always find in the first round of the knock-outs means that they've failed to make it to the quarters in 8 out of their last 9 seasons in the competition.

#3 No League Title, No League Cup, No FA Cup, No Champions League and Atletico Madrid in the Europa League

Who will steal the show: Oil or Greizmann?
Who will steal the show: Ozil or Greizmann?

As a result of generally making it out of the group stage in the Champions League, Arsenal fans didn't have to suffer sitting through the Europa League matches.

However, after dissing the competition when Jose won it the season before, Wenger is now in a position where he is forced to prioritise the soporific challenge in order to save his job.

It seems though, that his luck has run out, from all quarters, as Arsenal were drawn against favourites Atletico Madrid in the semis when they could've drawn Marseille or even RB Salzburg.

Another hiding on the cards for the Gunners?

#2 Calum Chambers is Arsene Wenger's illegitimate love-child, no other reason he plays

The ENglishman
The Englishman has been consistent. Consistently shocking!

Oh, Lord. Calum Chambers is still categorised as a professional footballer. Such are the footballing standards these days.

What must the likes of Fabio Cannavaro think when they watch displays of shocking defending like the ones the former Southampton man manages to churn out every time he gets on the pitch.

We honestly couldn't come up with a better theory to accurately assess why the manager keeps persisting with - the full-back turned centre-back wanting to play as a midfielder.

The man cannot and should not be allowed to touch a football, leave alone wear the red for Arsenal Football Club. I wish the deepest rungs of hell are reserved for those who see potential in the most abysmal defender in a side that has leaked 64 goals this season.

#1 From the bright days of Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viera to the dark nights of Danny Welbeck and Mohamed Elneny

<p>
Yes
Patrick! Hilarious, isn't it?

Arsenal fans were brought up on a regular diet of awesomeness in the days gone by. The team that Wenger managed to create around the turn of the millennium would often decimate their opposition.

Perfect mixture of youth and vitality added to the wisdom from experience: tight at the back, sturdy in midfield and just God-damn magical upfront. The Dutchman with his elegant touches and swivels has now been replaced by the directionless panic-running of the Englishman.

Whereas the consummate domineering performances of the French midfielder is now replaced by the shocking lack of footballing aptitude of the Egyptian midfielder.

Don't get me wrong. Both the members of the current side have in recent times come up trumps for their team when it most needed them, especially Welbeck against the Saints' and the CSKA Moscow, but still... I mean.. FFS!
