2 players Manchester United must try to sign before the January Transfer window shuts
United's new attacking methods have worked well and produced a lot of goals. While their midfield is getting more involved in the previous seven games, the defence has also looked sorted to an extent. David De Gea has been great between the sticks and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has impressed everyone with his managerial skills.
However, United has looked vulnerable in certain phases of the game which needs to be corrected very soon. Although the attack has produced goals, it lacks the cutting edge to pose a title-challenge next season.
The Red Devils signed Alexis Sanchez in the previous winter transfer window. However, despite many difficulties in the squad, United are yet to make a move in the ongoing transfer window. It needs to be noted that the January transfer window is important for both the next few months and the upcoming season. Hence, United need to make a few signings before the window shuts, so here are two players that they could target.
Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)
Apart from Victor Lindelof, Manchester United's defence has not looked convincing so far this season. While they have a few defenders out through injuries, players like Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have not been good with their job. Moreover, unlike the earlier Manchester United, a central figure at the back like Nemanja Vidic or Rio Ferdinand has been lacking.
Diego Godin is one of the best central defenders in the world right now and the Urugyuan could be a good addition to the United squad. The 32-year-old is experienced across Europe and is a towering presence in front of the goal. He is also useful in setpieces and hence, would be perfect winter signing for Manchester United.
Ivan Perisic (Inter Milan)
FIFA World Cup runner-up medal winner Ivan Perisic has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, but no deal materialised. The Croatian winger has been a prolific goalscorer for his country and Inter Milan in the past few years. He also provides a lot of assists very often and will guarantee goals for his side.
Manchester United has lacked creative players up front and has also failed to capitalize on their lead in certain games recently. Perisic would be able to solve those problems as the Croatian has been adept in finding spaces and utilizing any mistake of the opponents. These qualities make him a perfect option for the Red Devils.
Manchester United also has plenty of other options in the market such as Toby Alderwereild and Aaron Wan-Bissaka but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must prioritize signing Godin and Perisic within the next few days.
