Euro 2020 Qualifiers: Meet the active all-time Euro Qualifying top scorers in action

The 2020 Euros witnessed the largest ever qualifying campaign for the tournament proper when all 55 UEFA member nations, including the hosts and defending champions, entered the qualifying fray in March this year.

After 4 matchdays, Eran Zahavi of Israel is the top-scorer at this year's Euro qualifiers with 7 goals, a tally matched or surpassed by 152 players out of 500 who have scored a goal in Euro qualifying games.

Zahavi's two hattricks during this ongoing campaign (against Austria and Latvia) are the most by a player during a single Euro qualifying campaign since Robert Lewandowski in the 2016 qualifiers.

As qualification for the 2020 Euros continues with Matchday-5 this week, let us have a look at the all-time most prolific scorers in Euro qualifying, in action:


#7 Kyle Lafferty (Northern Ireland): 10 goals

The Northern Irishman is one of 18 players to score exactly 10 goals in Euro qualifying games.

Lafferty scored 2 goals during the 2008 Euro qualifiers, 1 goal in the 2012 qualifiers and 7 goals in the 2016 qualifiers. He is yet to find the net in three qualifying games in the 2020 Euro qualifiers.

With 5 goals in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and 5 goals in friendlies, Lafferty's 20 international goals are four goals shy of Northern Ireland's all-time top scorer David Healey.

The Welshman has also scored 8 goals in FIFA World Cup qualifiers, 3 goals at the Euros, 2 goals in the UEFA Nations League and 6 goals in friendlies.

Bale is Wales' most prolific goal scorer with 31 international goals, 25 of which have come in competitive games.

With 20 international goals, Dzyuba is Russia's fourth-most prolific goal scorer.

With 56 international goals, Dzeko has twice the number of goals than second-placed Vedad Ibisevic in Bosnia and Herzegovina's list of all-time top scorers.

The Polish marksman scored a record-equalling 13 goals in the 2016 Euro qualifiers (most in a Euro qualifying campaign along with David Healey of Northern Ireland in the 2008 qualifiers) and has scored twice in the ongoing 2020 Euro qualifiers.

Lewandowski has also scored 21 goals in FIFA World Cup qualifying and 2 goals at the Euros for a total of 38 competitive goals, along with 19 goals in friendlies.

With 57 international goals, Lewandowski is Poland's most prolific goal scorer by a country mile, a whooping 36 goals ahead of second-placed Lato and Blaszczykowski.

With 20 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo is the most prolific goal-scorer in Euro qualifying games (also Jon Dahl Tomasson of Denmark), behind Robbie Keane of the Republic of Ireland (23 goals).

The Portuguese captain scored 8 goals in the 2008 Euro qualifiers, 7 goals in the 2012 Euro qualifiers, and 5 goals in the 2016 Euro qualifiers.

Ronaldo's 9 goals at the Euros is the joint-most in the tournament proper, along with Frenchman Michel Platini. Ronaldo is the only player to score in 4 European championships (2 in 2004, 1 in 2008, 3 in 2012 and 3 in 2016).

The Portuguese has also scored 30 goals in FIFA World Cup qualifiers, 7 goals at the World Cup, 3 goals in the UEFA Nations League and 2 in the FIFA Confederations Cup for a total of 71 competitive goals.

Ronaldo's 88 international goals are the most ever by a player in a Portuguese jersey.
