Season 2018-19 has been one of the roughest campaigns Real Madrid has witnessed in their recent years. Before the season started Zidane announced his departure from the club. Fans were still not over Zidane's departure when they were blown away by the news of Cristiano Ronaldo making a switch from Real Madrid to Juventus.

Julen Lopetegui was entrusted with the job but lacklustre performances and tough luck cost him his job. The final nail in the coffin was a humiliating defeat against FC Barcelona.

Santiago Solari was appointed to get Real Madrid out of this mess. Initial results were promising as Madrid brought home the FIFA Club World Cup but yet again the results have dwindled. Real Madrid currently sit fifth in La Liga and the notoriously hard to please Florentino Perez is reportedly growing tired of the mediocrity.

Florentino Perez is already planning for the next season and has shortlisted managers to take over next season. Here are the 3 managers that have been heavily linked to the job.

#3 Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho after parting ways with Manchester United is currently considering his options. The Portuguese was sacked by Manchester United last month following the Red Devils' 3-1 defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool.

Since leaving his post in Manchester the two-time Champions League winner has been out of work but there has been no shortage of top sides keeping track of his progress.

Benfica recently made an approach for their former boss but it seems like Mourinho is holding out for a bigger club. Another club that seems interested in acquiring the services of the Portuguese man is his former employer, Real Madrid the interest is mutual.

Los Blancos recently hired Santiago Solari after sacking Julen Lopetegui as their manager but the Argentine is struggling to get results.

Jose Mourinho has proven credentials as he has won silverware with Real Madrid previously.

Mourinho is open to the idea of returning to Madrid, but according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar, he has put forward two conditions. Unsurprisingly Mourinho wants assurances over how much money he will have in hand to spend and has apparently told Perez he wants to be able to strengthen Real Madrid in two specific areas: in defense and up front.

#2 Mauricio Pochettino

The Argentinian has been linked with the Real Madrid's top job for some time but recently signed a new deal at Tottenham Hotspurs last year.

Pochettino is yet to win a major trophy which could work against him but the former Espanyol boss has been praised for his approach, attacking mindset, philosophy and for promoting young talent. Pochettino may not have a silverware to show for himself but he has given the Premier League teams a run for their money with limited resources.

He made suggestions towards the end of last season that he could depart Tottenham Hotspurs but his fresh five-year deal makes that unlikely given the compensation Real would have to pay. He has further gone on to state that given a choice he wants to finish his career with the Spurs.

Pochettino maybe the perfect choice as he knows the Spanish League inside out having managed Espanyol in the past. The only problem in luring him to Santiago Bernabeu would be the new contract that he has signed and dealing with CEO of Tottenham, Daniel Levy who is known to be a shrewd businessman.

#1 Massimiliano Allegri

The 51-year-old Italian has the credentials to take over from Santiago Solari having won four successive Serie A titles and domestic cup doubles at Juventus.

Massimiliano Allegri is Real Madrid’s number one target to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu next season as per El Chiringuito Tv reports. According to the report, Florentino Perez believes luring Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino would be tough and is determined to get Allegri to the Bernabeu in the summer.

It is believed that Florentino Perez's mind is set on Max Allegri. Max Allegri is one of those managers currently who could help Real Madrid stabilize. Massimiliano Allegri would by vying for a treble this season with Cristiano Ronaldo now in their squad. If he manages to win the UEFA Champions League this season, having accomplished everything with Juve he could be tempted to move to Real Madrid C.F.

Allegri has everything that one needs to succeed at Bernabeu: experience, tactical approach, man management skills and a stature that can hold the locker room together.
