The PFA team of the year is out and it's raised a few questions. Having already covered 5 players who deserved to be in the team of the year but didn't make it, it is time to see who undeservingly made the team.
Without much further ado, here are the 3 players who should not have been in the PFA Team of the Year:
#3 Marcos Alonso
Marcos Alonso is a brilliant wing back, there is no doubt about that. However, he is not the best player to ply his trade on the left side of the defence this season.
The Spaniard has been highly inconsistent this season and it's a big surprise to see him in the PFA team of the year. Ryan Bertrand, Fabian Delph, Ashley Young and Ben Davies have been way better than him throughout the campaign.
Delph and Young as midfielders and were make-shift left backs this season. If they have to be better than the Chelsea man, you can imagine how bad he was this season.
#2 Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen has had a brilliant season. But the fact that he made the team of the season ahead of Fernandinho is a crime.
The Danish midfielder has been doing well creatively but Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva have been better than him in that aspect. Picking Eriksen over Fernandinho clearly shows that modern day football does not give enough credit to the defensive midfielders.
N'Golo Kante, Casemiro, and Sergio Busquets are expectations. Apart from them, no other DM is given enough credit nor are they getting any recognition.
#1 Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero has finally made the PFA Team of the Year. The Argentine has been in the Premier League for 7 years and has been omitted from the team of the year every single time.
This season, when there is Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane killing it on the left wing, they have picked Aguero as the left forward! So, in the end, the only time Aguero got into the team, he was not the best in that position.
