34th All India Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup to kick-off on November 7

The 34th edition of the prestigious All India Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament will be held from November 7 to 19, 2013 on the artificial turf ground of the Paljor Stadium in the state capital Gangtok.

This years competition would be a 16 team affair with teams from India and Nepal taking part. The organiser, the Sikkim Football Association, have already confirmed the participation of Mohammedan Sporting Club’s reserve side besides Mumbai Tigers FC, Royal Wahingdoh FC, the Tata Football Academy and the state’s own United Sikkim FC.

Neighbouring Nepal is this year sending three sides with last year beaten finalists Three Star Club, Manang Masangdi Club and the Nepal Under-19 national team.

The organisers are also hoping that Mohun Bagan would send their Academy side besides the India Under-19 national team taking part, who both haven’t confirmed their participation.

Due to the B.N. Mullick Police Cup being held at the same time, champions Border Security Force from Jalandhar will not be able to defend their title, while regular participants Punjab Police and Army XI besides State-level Independence Day football tournament champion Sikkim Police are also set to miss the tournament due to their police trophy commitments.
