5 footballers who look like cartoon characters

Metz v Paris Saint Germain - Ligue 1
Mbappe and Cavani have their doppelgangers in the cartoon world!

If you are a football fan, you can be categorized into two groups now. Either your club did well in the transfer window and you can't wait for the season to start or your beloved team hasn't signed anyone who would make the squad better and you are biting your nails while you hope for some new arrivals in the last few days.

With the regular club football around two weeks away from us, the first category of fans has a lot of time to kill. On the other hand, the second group needs to distract themselves with something before they start biting their toenails (yes, it is gross but there are people that desperate).

So to satisfy all of you, here is an interesting list of five players who look like famous cartoon characters:

#5 Vincent Kompany - Megamind

Belgium v France: Semi Final - 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia
Is it only me?

First up on the list is Manchester City and Belgium captain Vincent Kompany. His lookalike - Megamind from the animated movie named the same.

The 32-year-old centre back shares more than a few features with the supervillain-turned-superhero. From the comparatively larger heads to the broad foreheads to the tapered jaws, please don't tell me they don't look similar.

See, I am not the only one.

Apart from their physical similarities, they also have something else in common - challenges. Megamind liked challenges so much that after defeating his counterpart Metro Man, he went to extent of creating a new superhero just so that he has someone to compete with.

Kompany, on the other hand, is the skipper of the Manchester City side, who challenged and won the Premier League title last season. The former Anderlecht defender also doesn't back down from stopping any of the attackers that come his way.

Considering all that, it might be safe to say that Kompany is the real-life Megamind.

#4 Gareth Bale - Sid Phillips

The Real Madrid star looks like Sid from Toy Story

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale's cartoon doppelganger is Sid Phillips from Toy Story. Sid, the antagonist of the 1995 animation movie is a ten-year-old bully who finds joy in torturing toys.

Although the former Tottenham Hotspur attacker isn't anything like Sid in terms of character, there is certainly some resemblance when it comes to the matter of their looks. The ape-like jaws are what primarily brings the similarity between the two, while eyebrows, forehead and ears add to it.

To make things even more interesting take a look at this picture of Bale, which was taken during his childhood days.

Sid, is that you?

#3 Paulo Dybala - Danny Phantom

Don't tell me they don't look alike

Next up on the list is Juventus's highly rated forward Paulo Dybala and the cartoon character he looks like is Danny Phantom/Daniel Fenton from the American superhero animation series by the same name.

The keen-observing football fans started the appearances of the two after they noticed that both of them have more or less the same face shape, eyebrows, mouth and even hairstyle.

Only feature that isn't kindred between the footballer and the cartoon character is their hair colour.

Oh, wait! Looks like the Argentine solved that. It was just weeks ago that the 24-year-old coloured his hair silver, making his claim to be Danny Phantom's doppelganger even stronger.

#2 Edinson Cavani - Tarzan

En
Edinson Cavani is Tarzan in real life

Paris Saint-Germain and Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani is often compared to Walt Disney's Tarzan when it comes to the subject of lookalikes.

Cavani has the long hair, narrow eyebrows and the forehead of Tarzan. Although not exactly similar, he also has a narrow jaw like Tarzan. The 31-year-old centre-forward showed the world that he is well aware of the comparisons made between him and the jungle boy when he celebrated his goal against AS Monaco in the 2016/17 season by replicating a gesture done by the animation character.

#1 Kylian Mbappe - Michelangelo

E
Mbappe is a mutant!?

Occupying the number one spot on the list is the Best Young Player Award at the FIFA World Cup 2018 - Kylian Mbappe. The 19-year-old is more often than not likened to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Michelangelo to be specific.

There is no need to even explain how the two look similar after you take a look at the above image. Mbappe is the carbon copy of Michelangelo, one of the four turtles from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series.

In December 2017, during PSG's tie against Stade Rennais, a group of fans dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ran onto the pitch to celebrate a goal with Mbappe and Cavani.

However, it is not only the fans who think that the former Monaco player looks like Mike. Last November, the Ligue 1 Champions' skipper Thiago Silva gifted Mbappe a Michelangelo mask and the hilarious video of it was uploaded on social media by Layvin Kurzawa.
