Kylian Mbappe's future at PSG is in doubt, as he has just one year left on his current deal. Despite the Parisian club signing Lionel Messi this summer, Mbappe seems to have his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.

Should he not be permitted to leave this summer, the 22-year-old attacker is ready to run down his contract and join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

Is quitting PSG the best option for Kylian Mbappe?

Kylian Mbappe's wish to play for Real Madrid is no secret. However, PSG have assembled a super team at the moment. Their ambitious owners have also made it clear they intend to continue signing top talent in the future too. As things stand, PSG could dominate Europe for several years.

Kylian Mbappe has established himself as one of the best young players in the game. The 22-year-old attacker must now make a tough decision regarding his career. Should he continue at PSG or make the switch to Real Madrid and fulfil his childhood dream?

Here are five reasons why Kylian Mbappe should stay at PSG and sign a new long-term contract.

#5 Real Madrid and La Liga's future look bleak

Real Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the game. Having watched them win four Champions League titles in five years during his academy days, Kylian Mbappe has harboured a childhood ambition to don the famed white kit.

However, La Liga is currently in a huge financial mess. After losing Ronaldo and Neymar earlier, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos have also left Spain. That has seen La Liga lose millions in sponsorship revenue. Less revenue means less amount available for distribution among clubs.

Real Madrid are in a poor financial situation too. Their expenditure on the new stadium, coupled with losses incurred due the COVID-19 pandemic have left Real Madrid short of funds.

They have also seen high-profile exits, with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane leaving the club for PSG and Manchester United, respectively. Zinedine Zidane, who led Los Blancos to three Champions League and two La Liga titles, also quit the club this summer.

Madrid also have an ageing squad. Considering the financial difficulties they find themselves in, their rebuild project may take a considerable period of time. Hence, Kylian Mbappe is better off staying at PSG.

#4 Kylian Mbappe could become a national icon by staying at PSG

Kylian Mbappe formed part of the France squad that won the World Cup in Russia in 2018. The PSG attacker also won the young player of the tournament award.

Mbappe was born in Paris in 1998. He joined Monaco at the age of 14, but ended up moving to PSG in 2017. A player, born in Paris, playing for a Parisian club, is the stuff national heroes are made of, especially if the player has won a World Cup, where he played a key role.

While Real Madrid are one of the most recognisable clubs in the world, Kylian Mbappe has the opportunity to be a French symbol if he stays at PSG. He has already made a massive impact, but over a period of time, he could be considered one of the greatest French icons of the modern era.

#3 PSG are likely to dominate Europe for the next few seasons

PSG's Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are one of the best duos in Europe. To add to that, PSG have completed the signing of one of the greatest players of all time, Lionel Messi.

Les Parisiens reached the final of the Champions League in 2019-20. They were defeated in the semi-final in 2020-21, but knocked out holders Bayern Munich in the previous round.

This summer, PSG are pulling out all the stops to win the Champions League. They have completed the signing of Sergio Ramos and Georginio Wijnaldum, who are both Champions League winners. PSG have also roped in Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi, from AC Milan and Inter Milan, respectively. The cherry on the top, though, was Lionel Messi from Barcelona.

Looking at their squad, there is absolutely no doubt PSG currently have the best team in Europe. A host of these players are on the younger side too or about to enter their prime years. That means PSG are likely to have the best all-round squad in Europe for the next half decade, at the very least.

PSG could very well win multiple trophies over the next few years, and Kylian Mbappe could be at the heart of it all. At the age of 22, he has already won a lot of trophies. Should he continue his stay at PSG, Kylian Mbappe could go down as one of the most decorated players of this era.

#2 Kylian Mbappe could etch his name in PSG folklore

PSG haven't historically been a massive club. They did have a golden era in the 1990s, but the turn of the century has not been kind for the French side. Ever since Qatar Sports Investments purchased the club in 2011, PSG have turned into one of the richest clubs in the world, though.

PSG have had many star players don their colours over the years, like Ronaldinho, Pauleta, David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, Neymar and now Lionel Messi. Kylian Mbappe is another name who can be added to the list, as he is already the third-highest top scorer in the club's history.

Despite spending just four full seasons (so far) at PSG, Kylian Mbappe ranks third on the list, behind Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, he boasts a superior goals-per-game ratio than Cavani, which means he could catch up with the Uruguayan striker very soon.

Mbappe is currently 68 goals behind Cavani, but he scored 42 goals last season. Should he carry this form forward, he could become the club's all-time top scorer in the next two seasons.

While PSG have had many star names wear their kit, very few have stayed around long enough to be considered outright legends. Kylian Mbappe has the opportunity to change that narrative. Should he reject Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe will be considered the greatest player to have played for the French side and could etch his name in Parisian folklore.

#1 Kylian Mbappe could form the best trio in football history with Neymar and Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi's move to PSG from Barcelona means the French side now have a super team. On paper, this team is arguably the best squad of this era, with superstars in every position.

Keeping the defence and midfield aside, PSG's attack is formidable. Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have been an excellent duo, tearing the opposition apart. They are further assisted by Angel di Maria. Lionel Messi has now entered the mix following his move from Barcelona.

Lionel Messi and Neymar were part of a historic trio at Barcelona that also involved Luis Suarez. Messi and Neymar have now been reunited at PSG, with Mbappe for company. This trio has the potential to be one of the deadliest of the modern era.

Partnerships aside, Kylian Mbappe should also consider the simple factor of playing with Lionel Messi. Apart from being an elite goalscorer, the Argentine also possesses incredible creativity.

Not many players throughout history can claim they played alongside Messi, one of the greatest of all time. Now that the opportunity has presented itself, Mbappe should commit his future to PSG and enjoy playing alongside Messi and Neymar.
