Arsenal are looking into the possibility of signing goalkeeper Petr Cech as Thibaut Courtois is set to return to Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Cech has been at Chelsea for a decade after first being signed by Jose Mourinho in 2004 but looks to have a fight on his hands to keep his place as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper.

Thibaut Courtois, who has been on-loan with Atletico Madrid for three seasons is set to return to Stamford Bridge after the World Cup after winning La Liga with the Spaniards, and helping them to the Champions League final.

Apparently Arsene Wenger is a big fan of Cech and will monitor his situation given the imminent return of Courtois could oust him as the club’s first choice goalkeeper.

However, it would be an unlikely move considering Arsenal agreed a new, expensive contract with their first choice goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, earlier in the season.

The Pole has struggled to cement his place in Wenger’s starting line-up prior to last season but now looks assured and confident as the club’s number one. Any move for Cech would be outrageous considering how confident Arsenal now are with Szczesny on goal.

Despite this, Wenger will continue to monitor the situation is reports are to be believed.

Cech won the Premier League’s Golden Gloves award for 2013/14 after keeping 16 clean sheets.
