Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil could be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained against Bayern Munich. While Wenger confirmed Kallstrom is available for the North London Derby.

The German star, signed for a club record fee of £42.4 million last summer, sustained the injury in the first couple of minutes of the 1-1 draw with Bayern but was still criticised for his performance by many portions of the English media.

He has been the subject of scrutiny for a couple of months now after a blistering start to his Arsenal career has taken a dip in form in recent weeks.

Despite his apparent loss of form, his absence for the upcoming period is a huge loss for the club and the player who will be hoping to improve so he doesn’t miss out on Germany’s World Cup squad.

“When the minimum is three, the maximum is six so let’s say four weeks,” the Gunners boss told reporters.

“It’s a blow to lose Ozil but I’m confident we have the quality to deal without him. We have many good players in our squad.”

However, there is some positive injury news for Arsenal fans as January signing Kim Kallstrom is finally fit.

“Kallstrom is back in the squad and will be available for Sunday.”
