Brendan Rodgers admits the club have already started planning for the 2014/15 season, despite having just ended the previous campaign under two weeks ago.

The Reds finished in second-place in the Premier League and they now have Champions League football to look forward to. Rodgers admits he is keen to recruit the right players to help his side in Europe, with reports suggesting Liverpool’s interest in Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren, among others.

The Reds boss says the work has already begun at the club and he even underwent a ‘recruitment meeting’ to help get the ball rolling.

Rodgers told the official Liverpool website: “Our work has started already.

“We had a three-hour recruitment meeting. So there is certainly no complacency; we’re hungry to succeed here. As much as we’ve had a good season, we want to go one better next season if we can.

“This is an ever-evolving league; it gets better every season. We’re in a league where there are not just British players – this is a league that is full of world-class players.

“We need to draw on the positives of this season – of which there are many – and we need to add players that can come and improve us. That’s key for us.

“It’s about taking in players that have hunger; you’ve got to retain your hunger and bring players in of that profile, as well as the other attributes I want, which is the technical capacity in the game and tactical intelligence.”

Liverpool had a shot accuracy of 50% in the Premier League this season.
