Real Madrid v Bayern Muenchen - UEFA Champions League Semi Final Second Leg
James Rodríguez

1. Bayern Munich defeat Leverkusen but have injury scares in the process:

Bayern Munich, as expected, continued a strong start to their season with a victory over Bayer Leverkusen. A 5th-minute strike from Leverkusen saw them trailing early on, but two goals from Tolisso and Robben shortly after that saw them leading at the halfway mark.

Thiago Alcantara and Tolisso combined very well in the middle of the park, but Tolisso had to limp off before the start of the second half. James Rodriguez continued on the same form he had last season and scored a third for Bayern in the 89th minute to seal the victory. A Karim Bellarabi challenge had also forced Rafinha off the field and a red card for the former.

Bayern will travel to Portugal to face off against Benfica next in the UEFA Champions League match midweek and will be surely missing Tolisso and Rafinha who are both sidelined for months now due to serious injury.

2. Borussia Dortmund continues their solid start with a victory over Eintracht Frankfurt:

Borussia Dortmund under new coach Lucien Favre has already had glimpses of the old Dortmund side under Klopp with a strong start to the new season. And they did not disappoint against the DFB Cup winner Frankfurt. An Abdou Diallo goal in the 36th minute saw Dortmund lead before halftime before Sebastian Haller equalized for the visitors.

The second half substitutes for Dortmund- Jadon Sancho, Axel Witsel and Paco Alcacer were impressive and provided much-needed stability. Marius Wolf, a former Frankfurt man himself restored the lead for Dortmund in the 72nd minute whereas Alcacer, on loan from Barcelona scored in the 88th minute to guarantee a victory for the yellow and black.

Next up for both these team are European fixtures with Dortmund facing Club Brugge away in the Champions League and Frankfurt meet Marseille in the Europa league

3. Schalke goes down to Borussia Monchengladbach:

Schalke have had a very poor start in the Bundesliga this season losing all of their first three matches to Wolfsburg, Hertha Berlin and this week losing to Monchengladbach. M'gladbach has impressed defeating Leverkusen and drawing against Augsburg.

Matthias Ginter opened the scoring for M'gladbach from a corner and at halftime, they were leading 1-0. Patrick Hermann struck from close range, assisted by Alassane Plea to make to 2-0. A late goal from Breel Embolo could do very little for Schalke as they lost in what was a pretty evenly matched contest.

The next opponents for Schalke are FC Porto of Portugal where they would hope to go back to winning ways.

4. Reiss Nelson impresses in Hoffenheim loss:

Hoffenheim have been impressive over the last few seasons in the Bundesliga, but this season they have had a mixed start so far. They lost to Bayern Munich in the first match of the new season but did defeat Freiburg in the next round.

A 45th-minute goal from Morales saw newly promoted side Dusseldorf lead at the halfway mark. Reiss Nelson, the teenager on loan from Arsenal impressed after coming on as a substitute and scored in the 86th minute to draw level. But an 88th-minute strike from Dusseldorf substitute Lukebakio saw them go up 2-1 and win the match.

The next match for Hoffenheim will be visitors to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

5. RB Leipzig overcomes Hannover in a close match:

RB Leipzig faced off against Hannover for their MatchDay 3 encounter. Leipzig has endured a rough start to the season with a loss to Dortmund and only managing a draw with Dusseldorf. Hannover meanwhile had drawn both of their matches against Dortmund and Werder Bremen.

Timo Werner struck a brace, a goal on both sides of the interval in the 40th and 63rd minute, both assisted by Emil Forsberg, to make it 3-1. Hannover pulled one back in the 65th minute but it was not enough as Leipzig pulled off an exciting 3-2 victory for their first this season.

Leipzig will next face sister club Red Bull Salzburg in UEFA Europa League clash midweek.
