Goalscorer: Eden Hazard 22' (P)

Chelsea secured their 8th FA Cup title with a 1-0 win over rivals Manchester United at the Wembley Stadium. The Blues salvaged some pride at the end of the season with this result after Antonio Conte's men had endured a below par campaign, failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.

A first half penalty from Eden Hazard was just about enough to tip Chelsea over the line, en route to their only piece of silverware this season. United provided a stern push in the second half but the Red Devils could not salvage anything from the game after losing their focus in front of goal in a few instances.

The result now means that Chelsea will face champions Manchester City in the Community Shield that will come as a prelude to next season while Jose Mourinho's United will have to settle as runners-up, yet again this season.

Without further delay, let's take a closer look at how players from both sides fared during the final:

Chelsea

Courtois made a number of crucial saves for Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois - 8/10

The Belgian looked comfortable in goal for Chelsea and showed good command in the air. Courtois made a number of crucial saves including the pick of the lot to deny Phil Jones just after the hour mark as United tried to claw their way back into the game. Booked!

Cesar Azpilicueta - 7/10

Azpilicueta started on the right hand side of the back three and remained narrow for the majority of the game. The Spaniard looked sharp defensively and never looked like planting a wrong foot.

Gary Cahill - 7/10

The Chelsea skipper looked composed at the back and comfortably marshalled the back three with his invaluable experience. Cahill responded well under pressure in the second half and remained vocal while offering instructions to his teammates as the game progressed.

Antonio Rudiger - 8/10

Rudiger was quite easily Chelsea's best defender on the night and continued his consistent form out on the far left of the back three. The German international held off Antonio Valencia on countless occasions while dealing expertly with threats from other areas of concern.

Victor Moses - 6/10

The Nigerian was forced to battle it out with Ashley Young for the majority of the game and it did not seem like he enjoyed a lot of that duel. However, Moses was reliable during crunch situations and managed to help Chelsea get over the line.

N'Golo Kante - 8/10

Kante was instrumental down the middle for Chelsea yet again and it almost felt like he can keep running forever. The Frenchman made a number of vital interceptions while also dashing forward and contributing towards attack whenever he sensed an opportunity.

Tiemoue Bakayoko - 7/10

A strong performance to end the season for Chelsea's new signing who has struggled to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge ever since his arrival. Bakayoko covered a lot of ground and did some good work off the ball to help Chelsea keep their shape intact.

Cesc Fabregas - 5/10

Fabregas enjoyed a relatively quiet cup final mainly due to the lack of space in midfield. The Spaniard found it difficult to operate effectively and was picked off the ball very easily, in a few instances.

Marcos Alonso - 7/10

The Chelsea full-back was his usual self and provided a lot of width for Chelsea down the left flank. Alonso looked solid defensively and showcased a touch of flair while going forward with the ball.

Eden Hazard - 8/10

Chelsea's talisman yet again came up with the all important goal after some exquisite dribbling that led to the penalty. Graceful and smart, the way in which he carried Chelsea throughout the game.

Olivier Giroud - 6/10

Giroud failed to link-up effectively with Hazard and would feel that he should've maybe done a little more to win his duels and provide Chelsea with a focal point in attack.

Substitutes

Alvaro Morata - N/A

Came on in the 89th minute to replace Giroud.

Willian - N/A

Replaced Hazard in the 90th minute.

Manchester United

United will be disappointed to finish second yet again

David De Gea - 7/10

United's shot-stopper made a couple of important saves that kept his team in the game. The save to deny Alonso in the second half particularly stood out due to its prominence but he had no chance against Hazard from the spot.

Antonio Valencia - 5/10

Valencia struggled inside the final-third and it was unusual of him to constantly lose possession whenever United required composure to build from the back. Booked!

Chris Smalling - 6/10

Smalling won almost all of his aerial duels and looked comfortable at the heart of United's defence. However, he was handed no favours whatsoever by his partner at center half.

Phil Jones - 4/10

Silly error that led to a poor challenge which ended up being a penalty and Jones looked like a laughing stock yet again. Poor decision making from him subsequently provided Chelsea with the opening. Booked!

Ashley Young - 6/10

Young worked tirelessly down the flanks for United by running up and down whenever required. He provided the all important impetus to his side in the second half but would've certainly wanted to produce better crosses.

Ander Herrera - 6/10

The Spaniard had to shift roles on numerous occasions during the game and he even slotted into the back three at a certain point. Herrera man-marked Hazard for the majority of the game and did a commendable job.

Nemanja Matic - 7/10

Matic was one of United's best performers on the night and he produced a sublime shift in midfield for the Red Devils. The Serbian was too tough to handle for Fabregas down the middle of the park.

Paul Pogba - 6/10

A strange performance from the Frenchman who seemed to have the required intent but he failed to initiate a come-back and it almost seemed like Pogba was a touch too slow to try and make a difference.

Jesse Lingard - 6/10

Lingard would've enjoyed more involvement with the ball but he was handled effectively by the sheer brilliance of Kante in midfield. However, his influence started growing in the second half but he was soon replaced by Martial.

Marcus Rashford - 5/10

Rashford looked extremely devoid of confidence against Chelsea and he struggled from the beginning, missing out on chances and his set-piece delivery was also below par on the night.

Alexis Sanchez - 5/10

The Chilean also failed to make an impact on the game for United. Sanchez struggled without the ball and remained busy throughout without being brilliant enough.

Substitutes

Romelu Lukaku - 6/10

Lukaku offered something different when he came on and his introduction only proved how dearly United missed him up until that point.

Anthony Martial - 6/10

Martial replaced Jesse Lingard in the 73rd minute and looked lively as he upped the tempo further. The Frenchman clearly has a point to prove and he made it evident.

Juan Mata - N/A

Came on for Phil Jones in the 87th minute.
