What's the story?

Chelsea star man Eden Hazard has accepted that his lack of work rate in the defensive phases has agitated every manager he has played under, including Antonio Conte and now, Maurizio Sarri. Regardless, the forward feels his casual approach without the ball will continue to frustrate his bosses in the future.

In case you didn't know...

Hazard is arguably the best player on the ball, as his take-on success and dribbles completed over the last few years have indicated the same. However, when out of possession, he is often reluctant to track back, push himself and maintain the team's defensive shape.

The heart of the matter

His laid-back methods have drawn criticism from managers, including Maurizio Sarri, who, after the 2-0 defeat against Arsenal, questioned his players' mentality.

On the same, while speaking to France Football, he commented:

"I didn't just frustrate Conte. In my career I have frustrated all of my trainers. Now here I am frustrating [Maurizio] Sarri. They think I need to mark more, do more here, more than I am doing.

Hazard though, explained that he will not alter his approach, saying:

"And the next coach I have, I will also frustrate him!"

The 28-year-old has been subject to a transfer to Real Madrid since the World Cup, and he still cannot make up his mind. The talisman added:

"I have won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean that I’m leaving. I have always said that I wanted to explore something different after England. But there are also things that might make me stay."

Hazard and co. will lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of the Carabao Cup on 24 January, Thursday. They will have to overturn a 1-0 deficit in order to progress to the finals, where most probably, they will face Manchester City, who took Burton Albion to the cleaners in the first leg with a 9-0 rout.

Up next in the Premier League, it is Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on 30 January.
