Caballero to stay at Stamford Bridge for another season

According to Goal.com, Chelsea are going to activate the one-year extension option on Willy Caballero's contract, which currently lasts until June 2018, and bring the goalkeeper back for a second season.

The Argentine international, who played second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois throughout the course of his maiden campaign at Chelsea, is reportedly happy with his situation.

Caballero joined Antonio Conte's side on a free transfer last summer from Manchester City and the 36-year-old has impressed during his rare outings this season.

As far as Courtois is concerned, his current deal expires in the summer of 2019 and there have been rumours that he could leave the club for Real Madrid.

Before coming to England, the Belgian spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014.

Olivier Giroud reveals why he quit Arsenal

According to Goal.com, Olivier Giroud has revealed that Robert Pires and Freddy Ljungberg told him that he should leave Arsenal for Chelsea in the January transfer window.

“Football legends like Robert Pires, who’s a close friend, Freddy Ljungberg and even some former Chelsea players told me that their game would suit me because they always play with a big striker and cross a lot,” he said.

When asked about the difference between Antonio Conte and Arsene Wenger, he added, “The difference is the coach made me sign and he wants to play me, he likes my profile”.

The 31-year-old swapped the Emirates for Stamford Bridge earlier this year in a £18million deal.

Giroud, who was with the Gunners for six years, agreed to a three-year deal with the Blues after Michy Batshuayi left Stamford Bridge for Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal brought in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The French international has scored only one goal since moving to Chelsea.

Chelsea eyeing Icardi

Mauro Icardi would be a top signing for the Londoners

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea have tabled a £55m bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi and are hoping to beat Real Madrid to his signature.

Icardi, who has scored 22 goals in just 26 appearances for the Italian giants this season, is contracted with the Serie A club until 2021 and is yet to sign the new deal the Italian giants have offered him at the start of the year. However, a number of reports claim that he is ready to quit San Siro this summer.

The 25-year old has been almost unstoppable this year and has already amassed 103 goals and 26 assists in 180 top-flight appearances in Italy.

Icardi is the perfect No.9 with his sublime finishes coupled with intelligent movement and with Alvaro Morata struggling and Olivier Giroud yet to show his true goal-scoring prowess at Stamford Bridge, the Argentine could be an answer to Chelsea's problems in attack next season.
