Hello and welcome to the Chelsea transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories of the day surrounding the Blues!

Maurizio Sarri linked with the Inter Milan job

Luciano Spalleti has had a very poor season so far in Italy with the Nerazzurri out of the Champions League, Coppa Italia, Europa League, and now in the risk of getting knocked out of the top 4 of the Serie A. The Italian also had to deal with controversial and star striker Mauricio Icardi and drop the Argentine to the bench.

The Italian is expected to be sacked before the end of the season irrespective of the result in this weekend's Derby della Madonnina.

Maurizio Sarri has had mixed result in the debut season in the Premier League with the Blues having mixed results after a brilliant start to their campaign. With Chelsea history of sacking managers, the Italian may be out of the job if Chelsea fails to win any trophies this season and fail to the Champions League next season.

Olivier Giroud throws his Chelsea future in doubt

Olivier Giroud, who has been forced to settle into the reserve role for the Blues this season after the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, has expressed his desire to play first-team football. The French World Cup-winner started in the round of 16 match against Dynamo Kiev and scored a hattrick as Chelsea won 5-0 away at Kiev.

When Giroud was asked about his limited game time and his willingness to continue in the present role in the club, the Frenchman opened his mind and replied

No. No chance. I'm a competitor.
I'm 32 but I'm still young. I feel very well physically. When I do the tests on the treadmill I have to say that I have one of the best tests [at the club].
I have the motivation to carry on. Some of the boys asked me why I didn't retire with the national team after the World Cup.
But I'm still hungry and I know how much I will miss football after my career.
I want more and more. I think I have a few nice years in front of me.

Real Madrid puts £42 million price tag on Mateo Kovacic

Real Madrid are expected to demand a £42 million from Chelsea for on-loan Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic. Real Madrid, who are expected to make a huge squad overhaul at the end of the season, are likely to let go of their loaned players to bring in new faces to the club.

The Croatian has made 33 appearances for the Blues this season and has been an integral part of the midfield for Maurizio Sarri this season.
