Dinamo Bucharest’s owner Ionut Negoita has stated that Manchester United have indeed tried to sign their highly rated Romanian winger Dorin Rotariu in the January transfer window. Negoita also confirmed that the club had received a considerable offer for the 18-year-old but was playing his cards close to his chest by not revealing the names of the other clubs which were interested in him.

Rotariu signed a six year deal with Dinamo Bucharest at the beginning of the 2013 season after his impressive performance for the club in 2012 when he was on loan from ACS Poli Timisoara. The youngster, who has netted 6 goals so far this season in the Romanian league, is a predominantly left-footed player but can also hit a venomous shot off his right foot.

With Ashley Young & Nani failing to seal first team berths so far at Manchester United, David Moyes is believed to be looking to bring in some wide players. The young Romanian could be on Moyes’ mind as he can play off both wings pretty much like Adnan Januzaj who has been one of the most creative forces at United this season.

Whether or not Rotariu will be allowed to move this January remains to be seen after Negoita dismissed a move away from Dinamo for the youngster in the short term.

“If we wanted to, we could sell Dorin Rotariu this winter for a lot of money,” Negoita said.

“I had a good offer and I took it into consideration. The interest of Manchester United for Rotariu is 100% real but we can not now speak of a transfer. He has to play one season at Dinamo, make performances and only then can he think about leaving abroad. There’s a time for it.”
