Mumbai, 27th January, 2015: DSK Shivajians defeated Kenkre FC 5-0 in their last group match of the Maharashtra Zone in the Under 19 I-League. Goals from Lallianzuala, Mawihmingthang (2), Paite and Rohit Kumar saw the away side cruise after a goalless first half.
The goalless first half saw various attempts from both teams, however, outstanding defending along with fine goalkeeping displays meant that the teams went in at half time with the score line reading at 0-0. Midway through the first half, Rohit Kumar slotted the ball in the back of the net, only to be adjudged as offside.
DSK Shivajians also had a penalty claim rebuffed in the first half, which saw the captain Mawihmingthang go down in the box.
Second half was a completely different story as DSK Shivajians attacked from the whistle.
The away side were rewarded for persistence when, in the 58th minute, Rohit Kumar chipped the ball over the keeper to give DSK Shivajians the lead. Ten minutes later, captain Mawihmingthang broke free after a lay off from Lallianzuala to double the lead for the visitors.
Mawihmingthang scored his second of the match ten minutes before the final whistle, after a well laid ball from Lalhriatpuia. Moments later, top scorer of the league, Lallianzuala got in on the act when he ran and slotted home a ball from Rohit Kumar.
Paite added the cherry on the top with a stunning finish from outside the box in the dying moments of the match.
DSK Shivajians end their Maharashtra Zone Under 19 I-League campaign on the top of the table, with Pune FC in second with a match in hand.
