What's the news?
Former Real Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho thrashed the Los Blancos for putting in a soft performance against Barcelona.
In case you didn't know...
Real Madrid's problems keep on mounting as they were beaten 1-0 by their bitter rivals, Barcelona, in their LaLiga fixture at the Bernabeu yesterday.
The result leaves the Los Blancos in third place, a whopping 12 points adrift of leaders Barcelona and two behind city rivals Atletico in the second spot, who have a game in hand. Madrid were also knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Barcelona earlier this week.
Jose Mourinho managed Real Madrid between 2010-2013 and won one LaLiga title, one Copa del Rey and one Supercopa de Espana trophy during his tenure at the club. The Portuguese is without a job at the moment and has been linked with a return to the Bernabeu in the recent weeks.
The heart of the matter
Speaking to beIN Sports(via Goal), Jose Mourinho believes that Real Madrid players are unhappy at the moment
He said:
"It was not a happy performance. It was not the performance of a happy team," ."It was not the performance of a team with great belief and self-esteem.
"Clearly they are now in a zone after a few bad results, especially in the cup match, where they are in a low."
"They couldn't bring to the game what I used to call the temperature of the big matches."
He further elaborated:
"They were passive. I cannot speak about a bad performance, it's not a bad performance, I think it's just a soft performance.
"Sometimes you play like this against medium teams and in the end you get a positive result, but against the top teams you have to do much more than this if you want to win."
What's next?
Real Madrid are scheduled to play against Ajax for the second leg of the Champions League round-of-16 tie on March 6.
