DUBAI (AFP) –

Ex-England managers Fabio Capello (left), Sven-Goran Eriksson (centre) and Terry Venables in London last week at the Football Association’s 150th anniversary event. Eriksson was on Sunday named as technical director at United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr, the Gulf club announced.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson was on Sunday named as technical director at United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr, the Gulf club announced.

The 64-year-old, who will work on the development of the team which is coached by Italy’s Walter Zenga, will be unveiled at a news conference on Monday.

Eriksson had been expected to take up a post with German second division side 1860 Munich, but pulled out of the deal on Friday citing a change of heart.

The Swede has an extensive coaching resume having managed Mexico and Ivory Coast as well as a host of European clubs including Manchester City, Benfica, AS Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio.
