Fantasy Premier League: 8 Best players to sign from the promoted sides

Brighton and Hove Albion v Manchester United - Premier League
Groß was immense for last season's promoted side Brighton

Promoted teams offer a tricky proposition whenever it comes to the FPL. A season-long battle to avoid relegation more often than not awaits these clubs. This means that the points-yielding capacity of the players in such teams remains low with the usual lack of clean sheets and goals. However, this also prompts these players to be of significantly lower value which can certain bang-for-bucks options.

With all three promoted clubs from the last season managing to avoid the drop, it is evident that these teams can at certain times of the season give great budget options- Huddersfield in the start of last season were resolute in defence. Also, players such as Pascal Groß prove that players from the promoted sides can deliver big.

This time around, the clubs that have clinched promotion are Wolverhampton Wanderers (League winners), Cardiff City (2nd place) and Fulham (playoff winners).

The three have different styles of play and distinct prospects for points accumulation. Here is our picks for the best amongst them.#

#8 Diogo Jota - Wolves (£6.5) Mf

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Villarreal - Pre-Season Friendly
Jota is one of the most exciting young players to look forward to this season

Wolves were potent in attack last season scoring the highest total (82) for any club in the championship. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder ended up as top scorer for the club notching 17 and providing another 5. With the increased difficulty of the EPL, these numbers will surely go down, but with a developing player with a keen eye for goal, Jota will be expected to score and assist in an attack-minded side.

Listed as a midfielder, Jota likes to push forward to play as the second striker at times which explains his goal scoring statistics. Priced at £6.5, a tad more than the usual for promoted players, the Portuguese player carries huge expectations going into the new season.

#7 Rúben Neves - Wolves (£5) Mf

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Villarreal - Pre-Season Friendly
Neves is highly rated in midfield

Another midfielder from Wolverhampton Wanderers; Neves likes to play centrally and would be the player that makes Wolves tick. Gathering 6 goals and an assist in a tremendous first season for the club, the Portuguese cemented himself as one of the club's most important players.

Neves is currently the most selected player from the three promoted sides (14.5%). His appeal over the other more attacking players seemingly due to his low price tag (£5). Neves offers a solid option for a cheap midfielder who will play weak in and out, coming up with an odd goal and assist at times.

#6 Rui Patrício - Wolves (£4.5) GK

Poland v Portugal - Quarter Final: UEFA Euro 2016
Patricio is a Euro Cup winner with Portugal

Wolves along with their goal scoring record had the joint best defence with Cardiff last season. Who better to make the solid back line even better than the Portuguese international goalkeeper?

Patricio arrives from Sporting Lisbon after terminating his contract with the club and now looks to take the number 1 spot from John Ruddy. A keeper with experience and quality, he could easily have played for a more decorated European side.

Patricio is a great short stopper which increases his chances of getting points via saves made. Priced at £4.5, he is a decent option for a back up goalie.

#5 Sean Morrison - Cardiff (£5) Df

Cardiff City v Nottingham Forest - Sky Bet Championship
Morrison is a threat from set pieces

Along with the prospect of clean sheets, one looks at the probable goals scored by a centre back in order to select him for their team. Morrison from Cardiff city who comes on the back of scoring 7 in the championship could just be offering that this season.

Better at going forward on set pieces than his defensive partner Sol Bamba, Morrison also is a part of a back line that shipped in the fewest goals last season along with Wolves (39). That however might not be the case this season as Cardiff are many's favorites to go down. But if Morrison can give even half the return that he did in goals last season, he might justify his £5 price tag.

#4 Bobby Reid - Cardiff (£5.5) Fw

Watford v Bristol City - Carabao Cup Second Round
Reid scored 19 for his club last season.

Low priced strikers with an eye for goals are well sought after by the fantasy league managers. They allow for funds to be spent on the other two strikers or elsewhere. Cardiff is a defence-minded side and had very low possession stats last season.

If they are to get goals from somewhere, we wager that the £5.5 priced Reid will be the man most likely to bag them.

Brought from Bristol city, where he scored 19 and assisted 7, the English striker ended up third in the league's top goal scoring charts. Reid will most probably start over fellow striker Zohore (£5) and look to spearhead an attack that will look to make the most out of any opportunities that they get.

#3 Alexander Mitrović - Fulham (£6.5) Fw

Fulham v Sunderland - Sky Bet Championship
Mitrovic can be a goal machine

The Serbian international striker has made his move permanent from Newcastle United. He spent the second half of last season on loan to his current club scoring 12 goals in 17 appearances. Mitrovic also scored one at the World Cup for his national side. His quality is well known and it may not be wrong to assume that this might be the breakout season for the Serbian forward.

Mitrovic already looks settled in a side that plays possession based attacking football. His physical presence also makes him a target on set pieces.

Priced closer to that of a mid-priced forward (£6.5), Mitrovic looks to be the main man up front for Fulham. With an ownership of only 4%, he definitely looks like a decent fantasy bet.

#2 Ryan Sessegnon - Fulham (£6.5) Mf

Fulham v Sampdoria - Pre-Season Friendly
Sessegnon has drawn comparisons to Bale and Marcelo.

Dubbed at being England's next big superstar. Ryan only 18 currently was the breakout player of last season scoring 15 and providing 6, he ended up top scorer for the club. Playing the first half of the season at fullback, Sessegnon's scoring returns came after he was pushed up front to the role of a winger. This has prompted him to be put up as a midfielder in the FPL rather than a defender.

His points return depends on the position that he would play. With German world cup winner André Schürrle (£6) brought in on loan and the lack of a covering left back, Sessegnon looks like he would start the season in defence.

This, however, might change as the season goes on. A youngster talented in attack such as him would not be limited to the position of a fullback for long. His price tag of £6.5 puts him in the mid-priced range. A player with such potential; that might just become a bargain as the season progresses.

#1 Alfie Mawson - Fulham (£5) Df

Swansea City v Southampton - Premier League
Mawson impressed for Swansea last season

Fulham have had a good transfer window thus far. They have brought in quality reinforcements such as Seri. They've also added Mawson to their defensive lineup. The Englishman was immense for Swansea last season but could not prevent them from facing the drop.

His contribution, however, hasn't gone unnoticed and he will play in the EPL again this season at Craven Cottage. Expect him to be slotted in as one of the three CBs in the squad.

Mawson is good in the air and has an eye for goals on set pieces. He scored a couple last season and 4 in the one before that. His tackling stats per match gives him a good chance to bag those bonus points as well. What remains to be seen is if Fulham can grab enough clean sheets to justify his £5 price tag.
