Former India assistant coach Stanley Rozario is currently working with I-League outfit Sporting Clube de Goa as part of the training towards completing his AFC Pro Licence certificate.
Speaking on the sidelines of a practice session at the Don Bosco, Panjim training ground earlier today, Stanley felt extreme gratitude towards the club for the hospitality bestowed on him. “I am very grateful to the Sporting Clube de Goa president, Mr Peter Vaz for giving me the opportunity to work at such a wonderful set-up. The management and players have made this experience feel like being at home,” he said.
Stanley was one of fourteen coaches who completed module 1 of the Pro licence course, which was held for the first time in India, in July and conducted by India Coach Wim Koervermans and AIFF technical director Robert Baan in Mumbai.
Stanley, who has worked with big names in Indian football including the likes of East Bengal Club, Mohun Bagan AC, Salgaocar FC and Shillong Lajong FC, was bowled over with the training methods incorporated by the Flaming Oranje head coach, Oscar Bruzon.
“Oscar’s principles are simple and very professional. The sessions always involve the ball and with opposition, which make them match-related. The most important factor is the players are enjoying the training a lot and you can witness the positive vibes from their body language,” remarked Stanley.
What also satisfied Stanley was the sufficient recovery time the players were given to ensure there was no overload.
Stanley will complete his stint with Sporting Goa on Saturday, but will frequently visit the club this season as he has to analyse four of the club’s I-League matches as part of his dissertation.
The other elements of the course involves visiting Japan early next year.
