Arsenal clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea to win the Community Shield for the second straight year as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struck the winning goal in the 24th minute of the match.
The win meant that Arsene Wenger finally managed to beat Jose Mourinho for the first time in fourteen attempts. Petr Cech who was facing his old club had a good game as he made some crucial saves to keep Arsenal in the game.
Chelsea dominated in the second half as Arsenal sat back and tried to defend the flurry of attacks by Chelsea. It was somewhat of a role reversal as Arsenal defended while Chelsea went all out attack.
Eden Hazard had an off-day as he failed to convert one of the best chances of the match when he hit a shot way over the cross bar after being one-on-one with Cech. It just was not Chelsea’s day as Arsenal held on for a win.
