Chelsea are among the best teams in England and are currently third in the Premier League table. The Blues are currently the only English team to be unbeaten in all competitions this season and are serious contenders for the Premier League trophy.

Known for their extravagant spendings in the transfer market, the London based club spent a net amount of £496 million over the last ten seasons, which makes them the third most spending Premier League team of that period.

However, there are a number of good players who were labelled as flops too quickly at Chelsea but they went on to become star players at other clubs. Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne are two of the perfect examples.

Right on this note, here is how Chelsea could have lined up if they had done their transfer business wisely.

Formation- 4-4-3

Kepa Arizibilaga is a good goalkeeper, however, he is still young and is yet to perform consistently at the top level to prove that he is an upgrade to Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea.

Thibaut Courtois joined Chelsea for £7.9 million from Genk in the summer transfer window of 2011. However, he was immediately loaned out to Atletico Madrid and was made to wait until 2014 to make his first appearance for the Blues.

Having established himself as Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper during the 2014/2015 season, the Belgian went on to make 154 appearances for the club before joining Real Madrid in 2018.

Courtois won two Premier League titles along with one FA Cup and one Football League Cup with the London based club. He was also awarded the FIFA Best Goalkeeper accolade at the last FIFA World Cup.

One of the most underrated players in the Premier League, Cesar Azpilicueta is an integral part of the Chelsea defence ever since he joined the Blues from Marseille in 2012.

He has made 209 Premier League appearances for the London-based club thus far, scoring five goals. The 29-year-old was the Chelsea's Players' Player of the Season 2013-2014 and helped the club win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup along with one Europa League trophy and one Football League Cup.

On the left flank, Marcos Alonso is a Spanish international, who joined the Blues in 2016 and has become an indispensable player since.

He was one of the star players in Chelsea's 2016/2017 title-winning season and also played a vital role in Chelsea's FA Cup triumph last season. The Spaniard not only gives them defensive steel but is offensively strong as well and scored 14 goals in 76 Premier League appearances for the Blues thus far.

The Madrid born defender was initially signed by Antonio Conte but he adjusted well under Maurizio Sarri as well and started in all of Chelsea's opening 12 league games.

Centre-backs - Antonio Rudiger & David Luiz

Antonio Rudiger is a German international, who was signed by Chelsea from AS Roma in 2017 and has been very impressive for them ever since.

He played 45 games for the Blues in all competitions last season and delivered a Man of the Match performance in Chelsea's victory against Manchester United in the 2017/18 FA Cup final.

The 25-year-old has started this season strong as well and is among the top performers for the Blues under Maurizio Sarri. He played in all of Chelsea's opening 12 league games and let the opponents score just eight times against his team.

After struggling for his game time under Antonio Conte last season, David Luiz has started well under the Blues' new manager, Maurizio Sarri and is now among the first names on Chelsea's team-sheets under the Italian.

The 31-year-old played 213 games for the Blues in two spells thus far and won one Premier League title along with one Champions League trophy and one Europa League.

Kevin de Bruyne failed to impress during his time at Stamford Bridge and the club eventually sold him to Wolfsburg in 2014 after loaning him to Wender Bremen a year before.

He impressed with his performances in the Bundesliga and was signed by Manchester City in 2015. The Belgian has been nothing but a revelation since his move to the Ethiad and he established himself as one of City's most important players. He won the Etihad Player of the Year award in 2015 and was the Premier League's top assist provider for the 2016-2017 season.

He was a driving force behind Manchester City's outstanding performances in the 2017-2018 season, scoring eight goals and assisting further 16. The 27-year-old was Manchester City's Player of the Season and also won the Premier League Playmaker of the Season 2017-18 accolade.

Jorginho - The Italian international joined Chelsea for £57 million from Napoli in the last summer transfer window of 2018 and has proved to be an excellent piece of business by the club.

The 26-year-old is considered among the best players for the Blues this season and he is bringing out the best of his teammates with his exceptional passing skills and vision. Jorginho completed 98.3 passes per game in the league this season, with a passing accuracy rate of 91.3 per cent.

Arguably the best midfielder in the League, N'Golo Kante joined Chelsea from Leicester City in the summer transfer window of 2016.

He won the PFA Player of the Season award during his first season in London and helped the club win the Premier League 2016-2017 title. Kante finished eighth in the Ballon d'Or 2017 rankings and was also included in the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2018.

He has represented the London club in 219 Premier League games, scoring 86 times. Hazard won the PFA Player of the Season award 2014/15 and has also been included in the PFA Team of the Year on four occasions.

Romelu Lukaku joined Chelsea in 2011 at the tender age of 18 from Anderlecht and was among the most sought-after teenagers in the world at that time.

However, he played only 15 games for the Blues and never scored a goal for them. He went on loan to West Brom and Everton before the latter decided to sign him permanently.

The Belgian international scored 87 times in 166 games for Everton in four seasons before making a £75m move to Manchester United in the summer of 2017. He finished as the Red Devils' top goalscorer last season and was also included in the FIFA FIFPro World XI third team in 2018.

Mohamed Salah, last year's Golden Boot winner, joined Chelsea from FC Basel in 2014 but left the club permanently in just two years to join AS Roma after failing to break into Chelsea's starting line-up.

He revived his career in Italy and was signed by Liverpool in the summer transfer window of 2017. He has been in sensational form since joining the Reds and broke a number of records last season.

He won the PFA Player of the Season 2017-2018 accolade and is also among the top contenders to win the Ballon d'Or 2018.
