How the Premier League table can change this weekend | PL Table

Can Manchester City displace the Reds and move to the top?
Can Manchester City displace the Reds and move to the top?

The Premier League is set to return after a fortnight-long break with a guaranteed promise of top-drawer footballing action. With just a month gone, we have a comprehensible idea of what the top 20 teams in England are like, in terms of their methodologies, tactical approach and current form, of course.

As foretold by the larger section of the fraternity, Liverpool and Manchester City have begun the season with the role of pacesetters.

The Reds, who have a perfect record this term so far, will know that there is no leeway to relax against an unpredictable Newcastle United side. However, provided the fact that they are unbeaten in their last 23 games against the Toons at home, not many would predict against a fifth straight victory for Jurgen Klopp and co.

Manchester City meanwhile, travel to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City on Saturday's final fixture. Not the ideal PL matchday return for the most generous defence in the division, against the top-scoring team.

On the Saturday goal rush, the attention will move to Old Trafford, where an exciting match-up between Manchester United and the upbeat Leicester City lies in wait. With absolutely no right would anybody write Brendan Rodgers' side off, as they look completely refurbished, revitalized and raring to go.

Another encounter between a big six outfit and an in-form team comes in the form of Tottenham Hotspur vs. Crystal Palace. The latter are gunning for a third consecutive victory, having already upstaged the Red Devils and Aston Villa. However, Spurs seem to have rediscovered their goal-scoring touch and therefore, they shouldn't be too far away from breaking into the top six spots.

Frank Lampard's Chelsea are under pressure; presently beset with injuries. They will lock horns with Wolves at the Molineux - a ground where the Blues do not enjoy hunting. The hosts have won two of their previous three matches against Chelsea at home.

Elsewhere, Southampton could leapfrog a few teams to go to the top half of the table, with an away game at Bramall Lane up next. Form certainly remains on their side, but can Ralph Hasenhuttl inspire a run of positive results for the Saints?

Brighton are set to clash swords with 12th placed Burnley, with both sides level on points. This match could swing either way, and both teams would be looking to claim maximum points against their fellow relegation battlers.

On Sunday, Everton stand a massive chance of moving to the top four when they make the trip to Bournemouth. Marco Silva's side are on a promising run of form and could reach double figures in terms of points with a win at the Vitality.

Bottom-dwellers Watford welcome Arsenal on Sunday evening, in Quique Sanchez Flores' first game of his second spell at the club. We expect them to remain at the bottom.

Finally, the fifth game week of the PL ends with a mouth-watering contest between Aston Villa and West Ham - a game that promises to grant us with spectacular goals and moments.

Thus, the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Everton could move to 10 points, with Crystal Palace widely tipped to slip up against the Lilywhites. Aston Villa, Norwich and Watford may have to make do at the bottom this week.
