Marcelo Vieira has had a season to forget up till now. Marcelo was one of the best Real Madrid players under Julen Lopetegui but since Santiago Solari has taken over, the Brazlian full-back is no more an undisputed starter. Madrid's Argentine coach prefers the young Sergio Reguilón over the veteran Brazilian.

The youngster has been a revelation this season and has been challenging Marcelo for a berth in the starting eleven. It has been a difficult campaign for the 30-year-old, and he has played just 13 out of Real's 24 league games so far. Solari believes Reguilón provides more balance and stability to this shaky Madrid defense and can assist in the team's attack as well.

The Brazilian international was reportedly left out of the squad to face Sevilla last month owing to the fact he was overweight.

After losing to 15th placed Girona, Marcelo was targeted by several Madrid fans on social media as fans shared various posts comparing Marcelo and 22-year-old full-back Sergio Reguilon.

The post revealed that Real have only won one of the last nine matches the Brazil international has featured in, while they have won 100 percent of the last nine Reguilon has played.

Marcelo then replied to the post, "It’s all my fault. We move on!"

The fans believe Marcelo should no longer be starting ahead of Reguilon till he regains his form and confidence back. The reply clearly indicates Marcelo's annoyance on being the only one targeted for each of their losses. The criticism towards the Brazilian is taking an ugly turn as the hate has made Marcelo express his feelings openly.

From Marcelo's point of view, the hate he is getting is uncalled for as he has given his everything for the team every time he has donned the Real Madrid jersey. He is a pure Madridismo and loves the club a lot. The slump in form is temporary but he has proved it in the past that he is the best left-back in the world when he gets in his stride and the recent successes are a proof of it.

Marcelo has caused a stir as there are rumors that he might leave the Bernabeu in the summer to re-join his best friend Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus. The criticism he is currently getting from all over may force him to force a move away from Madrid.
