Rome, Oct 8 (IANS) Italian midfielder Riccardo Montolivo to go under the knife later on Saturday after he suffered an injury to his left knee during a football match against Spain.
The Italian international had to leave the field after 30 minutes match against Spain on Thursday , as he sustained an injury to his left knee anterior cruciate ligament, reports Efe.
AC Milan midfielder underwent an MRI scan on Friday, which confirmed his serious knee injury.
AC Milan supported Montolivo in a message released on the Italian club's official website.
"We know our Captain, and we are absolutely sure he will come back stronger. Riccardo, beloved son, husband and father, is now enjoying the love of his family. But also his red and black family wants to show him their affection," the Italian club said.
