Jan Vertonghen information convinces Villas-Boas that Christian Benteke will start

Andre Villas-Boas told journalists assembled at his pre-match press conference for the Villa game that he has “information” that Christian Benteke will start tomorrow, as we’ve been predicting on MOMS for a while now.

Considering Spurs defender Jan ‘Shorts Puller’ Vertonghen has been away on international duty for two weeks with Benteke, it’s not hard to guess to where the “information” came from.

Paul Lambert also confirmed this week that Spurs were sniffing around for Christian Benteke in the summer transfer window, although he didn’t confirm there were any official bids. It seems AVB is quite the fan of Benteke judging by his gushing remarks about the Belgian during the rest of his press conference.

“We have seen how he acts as a direct striker for Villa and he is scoring goals,” said Villas-Boas. “Villa with him in the team are a different proposition.

“They see an increase in confidence up front of a great striker, who has great career ahead. The goals he’s scored have shown that.”

Villas-Boas was also full of praise for Villa on the whole and has high expectations for them.

“Paul Lambert deserves credit for the amount of youngsters he is bringing through,” the Spurs boss added.

“I see them stepping up and charging for European places in the end.”

Flattery will get you everywhere, but hopefully it won’t get AVB three points on Sunday.
