Ernesto Valverde to stay at Barcelona

The speculation around Ernesto Valverde's future at Barcelona has been put to rest. The manager revealed last month that he was thinking about where he will be next season and wasn't sure if he wanted to continue at Camp Nou.

Rumours started spreading about the 'unrest' in the dressing room and Pep Guardiola was linked with a move back to Barcelona. The Catalan club's president, Josep Bartomeu, has put an end to all that and revealed that Valverde will remain at the club.

“Ernesto Valverde will be the coach of FC Barcelona next season, of that we do not have any doubt. Of course, we will hold talks with him in good time because that is the agreement that we have in place, but there is no reason to read anything more into that,” Bartomeu said in an interview with SPORT.

“We have a lot of confidence in our Coach and what he is doing at this club, we believe he is doing a great job and is the right man for us to achieve our objectives. Valverde is extremely intelligent, he knows how to balance the dressing room and he knows this club’s style of play, is able to manage games and ultimately produce the results that we want,” added the president.

Valencia deny Sergio Leon talks

Sergio Leon finished as the top scorer for Real Betis last season but things have changed big time at the club. He has started just one game so far this season and he has been linked with a move away.

Valencia are on the lookout for a striker after they ended the loan deal for Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian striker did not manage to impress and was sent back to Chelsea earlier this month.

They were linked with a move for Sergio Leon and reports suggested that the manager, Marcelino Garcia had already held talks with the striker. However, the Valencia manager has rebuffed the claims and said, “Whoever claims that I have spoken with Sergio Leon is lying.”
