Everton vs Liverpool had little to show for a derby game between two city rivals

Everton vs Liverpool was supposed to be one of the biggest games of the weekend but the 0-0 draw at Goodison Park was a huge letdown for fans who had been looking forward to a feisty Merseyside derby that has always been the stage for drama and action.

Jurgen Klopp rested Mohamed Salah for the game claiming he was injured but would be back for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City next week. However, Roberto Firmino made the bench and came on in the second half.

The game started well with some fine efforts on goal but the rainy conditions soon reduced the contest to a snoozefest with the fans also unable to really raise the roof at Goodison Park.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the game.

However, all that early excitement only paved the way for a game that did not excite either set of fans save for some sporadic moments.

With 10 minutes to go in the game, even Gary Lineker wondered when the game would actually get underway.

In the end, the game ended 0-0 - much to the relief of fans, many of whom were snoring by the time the full-time whistle went.
