With only 22 days to go for the 2014 FIFA World Cup to commence, Uruguay International and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will be undergoing a meniscus repair after picking up a knee injury in training with the national team.
Charquero tweeted that the procedure was confirmed and the Salto native would have to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus after feeling a twinge in his knee during practice with the national team earlier in the day.
Uruguayan journalist Martin Charquero confirmed that the Uruguayan striker , “ATTENTION. Luis Suarez will have a meniscus operation this morning. Apparently, he will be playing in the World Cup. Can not believe. # VAMOSLUIS”
Following that, Charquero also claims to have spoken to Suarez’s brother Paolo who assured that Suarez would be fit before the kick off, and there is nothing to worry about.

However, a typical meniscus procedure is said to take more than 2 weeks post surgery to recover, followed by 2 weeks of limited motion before the patient is completely fit enough to resume daily activities while activities such as running and squats, should be postponed for some months.
It will be interesting to see how grave the injury is, and whether Suarez is able to shake all the pain off.
